19.01.2022 Acavallo Sensitive Bit Amira turned four in September and she has been under saddle for just 14 months. During this time, we found Amira to be leaning against the bit and struggling a little with maintaining contact. We have tried a number of different bits in an attempt to find the right one for her, some of the more traditional metal bits caused irritation and rubbing to the corners of her mouth. We tried the Acavallo sensitive bit on Amira about 16 weeks ago, and it has no...t only increased her confidence, it has assisted her to find balance and maintain contact, she appears to be more comfortable with it and it appears to have eliminated the irritations she experienced with other bits. Made of anti-allergic plastic materials, with integrated, flexible steel cable reinforcement it is gentle, yet still provides secure control of the horse, with large flattened rings on either side of the mouth piece with two slots to put your reins through, one of which, is good for a strong horse as it has the option for more leverage with the 2nd attachment for reins. The mouth piece itself is one piece, it is slightly arched and flattered which appears to ensure that the pressure throughout the tongue, jaws and corners of her mouth are evenly distributed, and prevents squeezing or pinching to he tongue or jaws. We use the middle slots to school dressage, as Amira is not as strong and therefore does not need a stronger bit. There is defiantly a noticeable change in Amira with this bit. There are a few negatives, horses can bite on the bit with their back teeth when excessively chewing and create a rough spot on the plastic bits and it is not legal in dressage competitions and therefore cannot be used in competitions meaning there is a need to swap back for comps, Amira appeared to handle the swap back to her french link snaffle bit, however, I am aware of other horses that are not so accommodating with the change. As stated on their website It enhances confidence of the horse in the rider’s hand because of its quiet and comfortable positioning in the mouth, helping the horse to find its own balance. Due to its integrated, flexible steel cable reinforcement, this bit provides for a soft, yet very secure control of the horse. An ideal choice especially for the schooling of young and the correction of difficult horses. For more information visit http://www.acavallo.com/ac_product/sensitive-bit/ I would defiantly recommend this bit to others, it has a place in schooling dressage in young horses. www.AbEquinePrad.com /or follow us on Instagram AbEquinePrad

11.01.2022 Red Gorilla Feeder Tyre Rubber Deep Trough Rectangle 30ltr These feeders are exceptional, safe, flexible, tough, durable and weighty enough that they do not blow away in a strong wind. We moved away from the traditional tyre feeders after our somewhat accident prone Thoroughbred Bailey got his hoof stuck through one when the base loosened from the tyre, we were extremely lucky in that he did not sustain any lasting aliment because of the injury. We moved onto the tough tubs, ...but the main issue was they have no weight and freely move not only throughout the paddock, but easily blow away with a strong wind. We came across the Red Gorilla Feeder Tyre Rubber Deep Trough Rectangle 30ltr when out purchasing supplies at Farmers Warehouse at Rutherford and decided to purchase three to see how they held up. They have proven to be a very strong robust product, Bailey as you can see from the video still chooses to act out, taking the feeder in his mouth and swinging it aimlessly around the paddock, however, there is no damage, he has done this on and off for a few weeks now and the product has remained solid without compromise! The feeders are made of recycled tyres, they are somewhat heavy, they do not blow away and the horses have not damaged them. The product is advertised detailing that the rubber will not crack in the frost or degrade in the sunlight.

09.01.2022 Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Premier Free Combo Neck Medium Firstly, this rug purchase and subsequent review resulted out of a paddock mishap with another rug, as the day prior to purchasing the first one our lovely Warmblood Amira managed to get the quick clip front closure of her WeatherBeeta Freestyle 1680D Detach-a-Neck Heavy attached to a wire fence. Thankfully, while her rug was destroyed, she did not suffer any injuries. We then set out in search of a new rug, aside from comf...ort and quality, one of the main reasons for selecting the Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Premier Free Combo Neck Medium was the concealed ezi-buckle chest closure for optimum safety. We were that impressed with the quality and fit, we purchased another for Bailey. The colours are also fresh and seasonal we purchased two one in the Grey Plaid and the other in the Navy/Burgundy/Gold. The Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Premier Free Combo Neck Medium is a great fit! Designed for superior comfort and freedom of movement, to fit any horse type. Two of our three horses are currently rugged Amira our four year old Warmblood standing just under 17hh and Bailey our eight year old Thoroughbred standing 17hh and the Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Premier Free Combo Neck Medium in a 6.6 is a perfect fit for them both. The rugs are strong and durable with a 220g polyfill and a strong 1200 denier triple weave outer with a repel shell coating meaning it is both waterproof and breathable. They have a memory foam wither relief pad that keeps the rug off the wither and reduces rubbing and a full tail flap that wraps around the hind quarters. The reflective inserts on the gusset and tail wrap increase visibility in the dark making them easier to locate. Our horses love them, they appear comfortable and warm and the rugs fit well, they do not roll up at the edges when wet like some of the other Weatherbeeta rugs have, nor do they appear to more around or slip with active paddock activities, the rugs remain securely in place. The quality and value for money is outstanding, we would highly recommend this product to others. Our rugs were purchased locally at Horseland Maitland. The features are: 220g polyfill and a strong 1200 denier triple weave outer Concealed Ezi-buckle chest closure for optimum safety Memory foam wither relief pad that contours to the horses, keeping the rug off the wither to reduce rubbing Full wrap tail flap that has a two piece design to wrap around the horses quarters Reflective gusset and tail wrap insert to enhance visibility Adjustable elastic, removable leg straps

04.01.2022 Oxford Soft Mesh Insert Cotton Combo - Summer Rug These are a fantastic cool summer rug, great value for money and currently on sale a Newmarket Saddlery! We recently purchased four, with one as an additional backup for our young 18 month old warmblood as this is the first time he has been rugged. With the change in season they have been perfect for the few hot days we have had so far. The rugs as depicted in the photographs are well fitting, providing ample coverage of at t...he tail flap and around the chest and gusset area. The large side mesh panel allows for air flow, while deterring the insects and pests. An additional complement to this rug is the three necks straps, fitted with the hard-wearing buckle as opposed to the black plastic clips, which I have found to be easily broken. For a value for money coming into the hot months you cannot go past the Oxford Soft Mesh Insert Cotton Combo for the product offered for price. While we have only had ours on for the past two weeks, they appear to be standing up to the shared paddock of three, with two young horses without issues or rips at this stage. The features for this rug are: Ripstop check 40% cotton Soft blue mesh to keep your horse cool Double front chest straps Stain lining in the neck and shoulder Shoulder gusset Fully bound Removable leg straps Large tail flap providing extra protection from dust, insects and sun
