25.01.2022 Last year many of us participated in the Light Up the Dawn ANZAC Day initiative. If you are unable to attend a Dawn Service you can show your respect to our Fefence veterans by lighting a candle and standing in your driveway or on your balcony at 6am.

24.01.2022 The pandemic has had a significant impact on our society in the past 15 months and in 2020 there were drastic restrictions on community gatherings, including the cancellation of all 2020 ANZAC and Remembrance Day commemorations (other than those held in Canberra). As the Covid outbreaks have continued to be erratic, but nonetheless concerning, in January RSLNSW had advised all sub branches that ANZAC Day commemorations would again be curtailed this year as directed by NSW Hea...lth. The only commemoration allowed was to be a reduced march in Sydney, with marchers to be chosen in a ballot system. The Covid situation and advice from NSW Health has changed in the past few months and only more recently has permission been given for sub branches to hold services while adhering to strict Covid guidelines. To ensure that these guidelines could be adhered to, a Dawn Service is being held at Aberdeen, but not a march. The normal lead time to meet the many regulatory requirements with an ANZAC March is months. The Aberdeen RSL & Citizen’s Club is organising a breakfast following the Dawn Service. For community members who wish to attend an ANZAC Day March, we are fortunate that the larger sub Branches at Muswellbrook and Scone have been able to organise smaller, restricted marches. Hopefully this will be the last year that our commemorations will be so adversely affected. See more
