17.01.2022 Athletics Victoria (AV) advises that in the light of the rapid development in recent days of with respect to the coronavirus pandemic, the decision has been mad...e to cancel the 2020 Flack Advisory Group Victorian Masters Track and Field Championships due to take place this weekend at Bendigo. The decision has been made in consultation with Victorian Masters Athletics (VMA) and Bendigo Athletics, and has not been made lightly. AV, VMA and Bendigo Athletics have made this decision in the interests of the health and safety of our athletes, officials, volunteers, staff and general public. This is in line with the approach other sports and public events here in Australia and around the world have taken with regards to mass gatherings in past days. While other sports can conduct their competitions in the absence of crowds, athletic events require large numbers of officials and volunteers to proceed. The masters event also sees many age groups compete that are in the susceptible age range of the coronavirus, and therefore we are not willing to risk the safety of these athletes. Unfortunately due to AV, VMA and Bendigo Athletics being not-for-profit organisations we are unable to reimburse travel or accommodation costs. It is up to the individual to take action in regards to these costs. See more

10.01.2022 Hi Folks. Results from 24th February are now up. If you see your name in yellow highlight, you were the age-grade winner of the event. Congratulations to Rob Irwin (again!), John Cooper (again!), and Adam Gregory (welcome back!). The front runners for the 2021 age-grade trophy are starting to become clear. Hopefully David Jones can remember what the rules are for deciding the winner, and hopefully Bill Ristevski will approve the purchase of a trophy at the end of the year! Watch this space.

02.01.2022 TRAINING ON WEDNESDAY 20 MAY 2020 Following the Premier’s announcement of Step 1 changes to COVID restrictions, Aberfeldie Venue Manager Tony attended a meeting of the VMA committee to discuss the implications for VMA venues. MVCC also met to discuss implications for its facilities. In a nutshell, this is where we currently stand ... training (not competing) is now allowed, in groups of up to 10 people the MVAC track is still open to everyone, for exercise at all times there are no bookings or tenant times Masters does not have any access to the pavilion, and cannot turn on the lights VMA has said that we cannot resume our normal events, and no formal VMA events must occur, but we can train within government guidelines This means that we can at least meet at the track for training (not for socialising), and we can train together in groups of no more than 10 either in the dark or before sunset. Tony and John Papworth have agreed to both be down at the track before 5pm TONIGHT and this is an open invitation to all members to join us there. If more than 10 VMA people come down at the same time, we will have to split up and one group will have to go for a river/park run whilst a maximum of 10 remain at the track. There will be no formal events no competition, no timing just individual or group training, depending on who is there and what we want to do. It goes without saying, but 1.5m distancing will need to be observed at all times. No coughing or sneezing on each other! It will be great to be amongst friends, down at the track again. Hope to see a good number of people down at the track at 5pm TONIGHT. Hopefully any rain forecast will hold off for a few hours until we finish.
