24.01.2022 Today is #WorldOsteoporosisDay, a timely reminder to consider your bone health. Osteoporosis is the underlying cause of painful, debilitating and life-threateni...ng broken bones known as fragility fractures. It is a growing problem, with fragility fractures affecting one in three women and one in five men over the age of 50. As bone loss is gradual and painless, there are usually no symptoms to indicate when someone is developing osteoporosis. If you are experiencing height loss, previous fractures, or have a family history of osteoporosis, consider making an appointment with your doctor to assess your risk. World Osteoporosis Day

23.01.2022 It's getting hot out there! Beat the heat by remembering these four key messages: 1. Drink plenty of water; 2. Stay in the shade or inside during the hottest pa...rt of the day; 3. Take care of others - particularly people with health conditions, the elderly and children; 4. Have a plan - plan when you'll be out and about. And remember, never leave babies, children, the elderly or pets alone in a car, not even for a moment. The temperature inside a parked car can be 30-40C hotter than outside the car. Most of the temperature increase occurs within five minutes of closing the car and having the windows down 5 cm causes only a very slight decrease in temperature. Being in the moment can help acknowledge, accept and cope with painful or intrusive thoughts, feelings and sensations. As part of a treatment plan and in conjunction with your health practitioner, mindfulness is a strategy, that along with other interventions, can help manage depression, anxiety, chronic pain, addiction recovery and relapse prevention and eating disorders. For more information on mindfulness talk to your GP or health care team.

We have a Well Women’s nurse available, as well as our Doctors. Preventative check ups help with early detection, prevention and treatment when required. They also give you peace of mind... make an appointment online today: https://www.hotdoc.com.au//aberma/abermain-surgery/doctors

09.01.2022 Remembrance Day is an important event for both veterans and the broader community to pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Australians have paused to reflect and pay tribute on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month since 1918. Although Remembrance Day will be different this year, Australians are encouraged to observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.... This year, due to COVID, groups of up to 100 people may gather for Remembrance Day services across NSW, provided they adhere to social distancing measures and have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.
