23.01.2022 Do you recognise anyone in this photo? I checked our mail box this morning, not something we do regularly because we don’t get mail regularly. Inside our mail b...ox though was a phone Yep, you heard me, a phone. So I charged it up enough to turn it on. But only being a firefighter but not a tech savvy firefighter, I could only reach this screen without a passcode. So, if you recognise the phone or the photo on the screen saver, please give me a call on 49902526, I’m happy to return it. Owner will need to know the passcode to unlock it before it’s handed over. 20.01.2022 Nine new recruits from across the state commenced their Retained Recruit Program at the Armidale Emergency Services Academy Campus today. The recruits were welc...omed by Regional North Area Commander Gary McKinnon before commencing the first phase of their training program, which will run until Sunday. The recruits will cover a wide range of subjects during the course. They will then return to their local stations where they can respond to incidents and continue to learn "on the job", practicing their new skills and knowledge. In early september they will return to Armidale to finish their face-to-face training. The Armidale Academy Campus is located in the north of NSW and is part of a network of Regional Academy campus sites. These centres are key components of the training delivered to FRNSW firefighters, collectively training hundreds of regional firefighters each year. 18.01.2022 TRAINING IN REAL CONDITIONS | As one of the world’s largest urban firefighting agencies, we train to get it right. Our Academy’s new ‘live fire’ training facili...ty tests our skills, knowledge and preparedness so we can save lives and help keep you safe. The live fire facility generates real smoke, extreme heat and low visibility just some of the conditions our firefighters work in fire emergencies. Despite our world-class firefighting efforts, NSW house fires account for around 15 preventable fire fatalities each year (based on a 10-year average). You can help reduce these stats by being fire-safe this summer season. Visit our website for fire safety tips: https://fal.cn/3bff6 #MoreThanFire #PreventionAndEducation #Training

12.01.2022 EAST MAITLAND | Multiple Fire and Rescue Stations from the Newcastle Region including Fire and Rescue NSW Station 374 Maitland Fire & Rescue NSW Station 455 Rut...herford Newcastle Fire Station Fire and Rescue NSW Station 382 Morpeth and Fire And Rescue NSW Station 454 Tarro responded to a house fire early this morning and while the house was totally destroyed by fire, there is a happy ending to this tail. Six residents had managed to self-evacuate when crews arrived however, the family dog, Betty, was still trapped inside the home. Thinking the worst, firefighters worked for over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Towards the end of operations, with the structure badly compromised, crews noticed Betty moving through the rubble of the second story towards a balcony. Firefighters were able to use a ladder platform to lift Betty safely from the balcony and into the arms of her worried owners. Betty was very happy to be rescued and is being treated by the local veterinary clinic but is expected to make a full recovery. #MoreTheFire #PreparedForAnything #DogRescue

03.01.2022 To most 343 is just a number. To nearly all firefighters around the world, it is a humbling reminder of the events that took place in New York on this day, 19 y...ears ago. This is because on 9/11, 343 New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters did not finish their shift. The tragedy claimed the lives of 2977 innocent victims, and many continue to be impacted. To date, 227 additional firefighters have died with illnesses related to 9/11, with 27 names recently added to the FDNY World Trade Centre Memorial Wall. FRNSW shares deep and personal connections with FDNY, we will never forget the immediate and ongoing loss they were dealt and continue to deal with, all those affected are in our thoughts today.
