23.01.2022 Abetta lawn tip #2 All about mulching A mulching mower uses a modified disc and blade system that cuts the grass initially and then recuts the clippings to a super-fine state before forcefully blowing them back down on to the lawn. When mowing in mulching mode, the catcher is not used.... The fine clippings (now mulch) break down, adding valuable nutrients and organic matter to your lawn and soil. The layer also protects against rapid drying and potential sunburn over Summer. But mulch mowing isn't always the best way to go. There are times you should mow with the catcher on: When your grass is damp. If there will be lots of foot traffic after mowing as the clippings can get picked up on shoes and feet. When your grass is too long. Through cool, damp months when the clippings may not break down fast enough, giving rise to possible fungal problems.

12.01.2022 Abetta lawn tip #4 All about watering Use sprinklers and soaker hoses for a more consistent spread of water to your area. Try not to hand water with a hose as this will only lead to inconsistencies in your watering.... Water your lawn in the morning and in the evening. You are best watering when it’s not the heat of the day. You also don’t want to water at night, as this can cause fungal issues in your lawn. Water for longer time periods, less frequently. Watering your lawn 2-3 times a week for an hour each time is much better than watering your lawn 6 times a week for only 15 minutes. You want to train your lawn to be more drought tolerant. Frequent short watering’s will only cause your lawn to become thirstier and less drought tolerant. Different lawn types require different amounts of water, so take this into consideration when choosing a new lawn. Varying weather conditions will require you to change up your normal watering routine. If there are a few days in a row of substantially hot weather, you may need to add some extra watering’s into your routine. Likewise, if you have a few days of wet weather, you don’t need to water your lawn during that time. See more

To bounce your lawn out of winter in September apply a complete fertiliser high in nitrogen to get your lawn out of hibernation. Note: Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn loves chicken manure Summer After vigorous growth during spring your lawn needs another application of complete fertiliser. Regular mowing and watering will ensure your lawn looks the best. Autumn & Winter Sir Walter loves our hot summers and has plenty of vigorous growth over this time. Now is the best time to start feeding and preparing your lawn for the coming winter months. The optimum time to do this is two applications of fertiliser; one in March and one in April/May (before the weather gets cold). A fertiliser high in potassium, increasing plant cell health and structure, will give your lawn protection going into the cold winter months. Mow a little higher to give your lawn protection against frosts.
