25.01.2022 This is a worthwhile read, we must lobby in our local community to enable choice. Assisted dying is a basic human right, having the choice to die with dignity. Being diagnosed with a terminal illness doesn’t mean patients are incapable of continued control over their health and ultimately their death.
23.01.2022 Patient advocacy is an area that is largely under used. Unnecessary suffering at end of life is often a result of misinformation between patients, their families and healthcare providers. Interesting & heartbreaking article highlighting a patients unnecessary suffering in his final stages of life. https://www.smh.com.au//daughter-s-pain-she-hoped-dad-woul
23.01.2022 A thought for Fryday ...
22.01.2022 An interesting read that covers how we are forging ahead in the way we look at death...
20.01.2022 Now here’s a great artistic image of how grief changes shape from something all consuming to something manageable.. there is no timeline as that’s something that differs for us all
19.01.2022 Succulents are a beautiful addition to any memorial or burial site. They are long lasting, and can withstand harsh conditions. Often we give flowers that have a very short lifespan. Next time you would like to send an offering of condolence, consider a small mixed pot. They can be re-planted and continue to grow.
15.01.2022 One to make you smile!
12.01.2022 I just stumbled across this great guide on how to write an eulogy. It’s a wonderful read and worthwhile if you are wondering how to bring together everything you are trying to say, all of those fabulous memories....
12.01.2022 An interview with author Margaret Rice reflecting on the impact of Covid-19 during lockdown. Margaret has published a beautiful book Good Grief which takes a compassionate look at end of life.
12.01.2022 Were excited to announce that the new website is up and running. Please share it around amongst your friends
12.01.2022 Aussie pop princess Ricki-Lee tonight on Better Homes & Gardens. Told how her family held her Pop’s funeral under her favourite tree in the garden of their family home ‘Gilston Manor’, in the Gold Coast hinterlands, and how this place holds such an emotional connection for her. Another great example of doing funerals better!
11.01.2022 An interesting article in the SMH today and we truly agree... everyone should tread their own path when it comes to farewelling someone they love. We share this same view and avidly encourage everyone to start up those sometimes difficult discussions....
08.01.2022 I am always grateful for the feedback we receive from our families, confirming that we are living up to the high standards we set for ourselves at A Better Way Independent Funeral Services ... Dear Keri An enormous thank you for organising and conducting Robert’s Celebration of Life Service. Your beautiful words made wonderful memories for all in attendance and a perfect tribute to Roberts life.... Your genuine care and understanding, along with your impeccable attention to detail, made organising Robert’s service a seemless process during a time of great difficulty and knowing the details were taken care of and individually tailored to us, was just one less thing to worry about. Your gorgeous demeanour, warmth, and kindness extended to us, made sure the day was filled with wonderful and lasting memories of a dear dear Friend. With heartfelt thanks Kimberley. See more
08.01.2022 Acceptance of a diagnosis of a life limiting disease, and understanding the trajectory of the disease are ways to take control of the final stages of your life.
07.01.2022 No one ever is, I don’t believe ‘ready’ even exists....
06.01.2022 A huge day for A Better Way Funerals, from pick ups of our families loved ones ashes to meetings, to services. Thank you to our community for putting your trust in our company. We pride ourselves in taking care of our families. Our main point of difference other than our lower pricing is the palliative care, counseling and post care that we offer. We believe the journey starts long before the funeral and our loved ones lives continue long after. In the words of Thucydides. What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.
06.01.2022 A bit of fun on a Friday night, who’s organising this?
05.01.2022 A quiet moment of reflection before today’s service. People often ask how do Funeral Celebrants cope with the constant grief. The answer is with deep empathy and gratitude. Whilst emotionally it can be exhausting, the reward of easing people’s suffering just a little in the most difficult of times is worth it. Grief is an incredibly intimate emotion you are seeing people at their truest self. William Shakespeare so aptly said. Well, every one man can master a grief but he that has it.
