21.01.2022 Breaking NDIS news this morning ... The government has released the findings of the Tune Review into the NDIS. The report says people with disability and their ...families find the scheme too complex and confusing, too difficult to navigate and are frustrated by lengthy delays and lack of consistency. It makes 29 recommendations including: Set timeframes for key NDIS actions such as access, getting a plan, resolving reviews More help for people to navigate the scheme A trial where NDIA staff carry out all planning functions - meeting with participants, drafting a plan, approving a plan - and then compare wth the "Joint Planning" model to see which works best for participants Clearer rules around what is considered "reasonable and necessary" Upgrades to the IT system so people can track on line where things are up to A national outreach strategy to help those people who are less likely to find their way to the NDIS themselves The government has not released its response to the report. The Department of Social Services website says it will be released "shortly".
