18.01.2022 What is self directed funding? Self directed funding is essentially about three things for people living with a disability and their families; independence, choice and social inclusion. It places the individual at the centre of decision making. #abilitycare To find out more please follow this link to visit our website http://www.abilitycare.org.au/self-directed-funding

11.01.2022 A few words from Edens Landing Day Centre Edens Landing Centre is nestled in a beautiful leafy area of Edens Landing in the grounds of the Seventh Day Adventist Church backing onto parkland ( Attached is a photo of our view from our back Veranda.) We have been in partnership with the church for around 7 years and have developed a close and inclusive relationship. The buildings have gone through major renovations in recent years and the needs of the people who attend the cen...tre were taken into account. Consequently we now have a disability bathroom and laundry. A wedding was recently held at the church during the week and the clients were invited to watch the service. The activities that our young people are involved in are varied, from taking on the responsibility of ensuring the centre is clean for the church to use on the weekend, to projects they are involved in with their local community. The young people we support are particularly proud of their volunteer work with Meals on wheels and the Salvation army. Our local Bunnings is very supportive where they have donated a wall herb garden which in turn we use in our cooking activities. Our young people who have an interest in developing their skills in woodwork have taken the opportunity to join the workshop that Bunnings offer on a weekly basis. #abilitycare

10.01.2022 Did you know the average office worker takes just 3000 steps a day? Considering the recommended minimum is 10,000 steps, it's no wonder so many of us aren't as fit as we’d like to think we are!! Please show your support and help Ability Care raise funds for Steptember - click here... http://bit.ly/2kNbhZa

02.01.2022 Over the past year, Ability Care have received support from various businesses and fundraising groups. Such groups include, The Rockabillies Bike group, Greenbank RSL, Thunder Alley Raceway, Community Benefit Fund, Logan City Council, Digi Skates and the Big Gun. The Rockabilly Riders raised over $700 alone to assist with fundraising for a wheelchair for a young girl. They also support our respite Christmas parties and assisted a young boy to have a Super Hero birthday party!

02.01.2022 Thank you to the Steptember Teams, and their supporters, who joined in for our fun "Zen Steptember" seated yoga class! We all learned some moves to make our office day a bit easier (and healthier :D) with stretches to lengthen and loosen. Check out the range of services at Wellwood Health. Afterward, we got to know our new friends a little better over fresh cold pressed juices, courtesy of Homestead Markets and Oji Foodservice Packaging Solutions - so Yum!!

01.01.2022 At Ability Care, the respite services are always packed with fun. Services include camps for both adult and children, vacation care, overnight and day respite, in home supports and emergency respite. This group have assisted with fundraising in various forms, where life skills and social skills were maintained. This included recently a BBQ breakfast fundraiser for members of the public as well as assisting and participating in team sports and games. In return the group rai...sed $1500 over three days which purchased a movie projector for the respite center and a few other needs. #abilitycare
