17.01.2022 On A World Stage The first International Abilympics was held in Japan in 1981. The competition has then gone from strength to strength, increasing its world profile and relevance. Abilympics takes workskills competition to an international level where the quality of the finished work is the only item judged.... With events held in Asia, Europe, South America and Australia this competition provides a world stage to not only showcase the quality of workskills but to also give talks, assistive technology demonstrations and other programs related to disability issues. Abilympics WA hosted the 1995 event in Perth, allowing a large field of local competitors to attend. The 1995 Abilympics also brought world attention to our beautiful city.

13.01.2022 This was the Australian delegation for the first Abilympics event held in Tokyo 1981. I can't recall the names of the two standing chaps, but far right is Victor Salvemini, to his left is the late John Fisher who was instrumental in getting Abilympics in Australia up and running and the gentleman on the far left is Mike Cull.

04.01.2022 The opening ceremony dinner in Bordeaux was such a 'pinch me' moment in time . To say our host country spoilt us all ..is an understatement! It was so surreal . The food was exquisite , the decor was amazing and part of the wow factor, was having famous artworks projected on the wall as a slideshow throughout the night . The entertainment was mind-blowing and included in it were performers from cirque Solei . The atmosphere in the room was electric and although there was a language barrier between a lot of countries , the smiles exuded from participants & the positive energy extended towards one another ....well sometimes words don't need to be spoken I hope you've had an opportunity to take a look at the new website and see if there's a category you're qualified in and apply .

03.01.2022 When the excitement is palpable The first night our host country put on a "Meet & greet" in a sports stadium with all the other countries participants . Such a fun filled night . Moscow Abilympics 2021 is just around the corner .....have you checked out the website ?

In this new environment we've found ourselves in, it is easy to get distracted by all the white noise and as a result our regular routines can suffer. ... 03.01.2022 Go You Legends These guys right here , Danny & Michael made our hearts swell with pride in Bordeaux ... They won GOLD in the landscaping category & while we were all so SUPER thrilled & shared in the excitement & jubilation of their win ... it's what they did after they'd completed their task that made it that much more notable . Finishing ahead of their competitors & in true Aussie spirit they went around and pitched in to help other struggling teams to try and complete ...their tasks ! So much and respect for showing what the true Aussie spirit is all about ! Aussie Aussie Aussie Hope you've had a chance to checkout the website !
