12.01.2022 What A Week It Has Been For Us! Last Sunday we were contacted to assist in a Marine Incident on Moreton Island, just north of the Tangalooma Wrecks. After enduring rough conditions and equipment failure, the crew had no choice but to abandon ship. This ended with the 29 ton 55ft vessel being beached and sustaining damage with a 50cm hole being punched through the concrete hull, and filling up with water. ... On Monday we made the journey across to the island to inspect the vessel for salvage. Once we returned back to the office, we began to create a salvage plan and on Friday it was put into action. With limited resources available on the island, there was no access to heavy machinery to assist - so everything had to be done by hand. Using sludge pumps to clear sand and water from in and around the boat, we used air bags to assist with lift and working with the tides to refloat the vessel after the hole in the side was patched. After successfully re-floating the 55ft concrete yacht we proceeded to tow the vessel to deeper water for Redcliffe Coast Guard QF3 to take over and tow to the northern end of Bribie Island, to then pass over to Coast Guard Mooloolaba QF6 to tow back to Mooloolaba... Last Week our team was contacted to salvage a boat that had become stranded after a rough time crossing the Noosa Bar, after a quote and salvage plan was created we awaited the go ahead from the owner. Coast Guard Noosa QF5 Did A Great Job to get them in a safe location in Woods Bay before the vessel sank due to hull damage sustained in the bar crossing with the prop shaft being pushed through the hull.... ... Yesterday we patched the hole in the hull while securing shaft and lose items before re-floating the vessel, using our Underwater Lift Bags. We then proceeded to Tow the vessel to an agreed location to leave in the hands of the owner to organize his own Transport to Brisbane once he finds a spot for it!
