25.01.2022 During 2019, participants of the Young Adults program in Tasmania attended many interesting activity sessions at TasTAFE! Once session included using virtual 3D goggles! Clients chose what they would like to see through the goggles, such as an underwater scene where they could touch fish, poke at sea anemone and walk a seabed. Our staff and clients had an amazing time and are hoping to do this again once it is safe to do so! ... To find out more about what our clients got up to at TasTAFE, visit: https://bit.ly/2V9ZAde Image Description: Three images of three clients using the virtual 3D goggles.

23.01.2022 Recently, one of our clients went animal spotting with his support worker! Our client who has newly moved from a nursing home into an Able supported independent home, absolutely loves animals! Supported by Able staff, our client searched around his hometown in Hobart, Tasmania, spotting a range of classic Australian animals such as kangaroos and wallabies. Our client has so much fun and took lots of photos of his new furry friends!... Read more fun client stories here! https://bit.ly/2ZN4BLj Image description: Image one is of our client wearing a blue sweater, looking outside the window inside a vehicle, pointing a red torch outside the window. This theme highlights how timely and effective interventions can help people with hearing loss reach their full potential. Take time on this day to reflect upon and think about what do you do to make communication easier for your family and friends who are Deaf or hard of hearing, how would you communicate with a Deaf person if you met them for the first time, what are you doing to protect you...r own hearing? https://bit.ly/3uG7HPp

16.01.2022 How remarkable is the craftsmanship in the mailboxes by our client Katie? Katie made the animated cat mailbox for our Youth Adult Program site last year. She constructed the mailbox whilst attending her weekly Men’s shed (when women attend as well) session. After completing the cat mailbox we asked Katie if she could make a fire engine for Able’s Lifestyle choices sites. The site was originally a fire station so thought it fitting to stay connected to the site’s heritage. K...atie attends our Youth Adult Program and is very talented in arts and crafts. She has made many dolls and teddy bears for her nephew. She enjoys cooking and entered one of her paintings in the 2020 Able Art exhibition.
