I will still be here to help my friends and their horses when needed but will no longer be taking horses in for training, conducting clinics and camps. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and become such wonderful friends :) I have really enjoyed the journey!! love to you all xx This page will stay active, I will still share videos and horsemanship thoughts etc!! Cant get rid of me that easy! lol

18.01.2022 Needs more Bend or Unbalanced Turn/Circle Bending the horse’s head and neck is useless, bending the whole horse from head to tail while moving forward is us...eful. Correct bending of a horse refers to the lateral curvature of the horse’s body from nose to tail. In a correct bend, the horse should bend along his whole body with his rib cage swinging outward and his jaw flexed in the direction he is moving. The Cowboy Dressage Octagon (the box) designed with bending in mind, it can help to replace riding with over used of rein and legs, by alternating between the inside or the outside of the box. Ride the outside of the circle (Octagon) by placing your inside leg by the cinch and inside rein by the horse’s shoulder. Rider weight is on the outside. A ball, a barrels, or cones, can be useful. Ride the inside of the circle by stepping out of the box and placing your outside leg stretched behind the cinch, and outside rein by the horse’s outside shoulder. Rider weight is on the inside side. Change direction by turning on the forehand or haunches. Try to adjust the bend to the part of the curve you’re on. You need less bend to ride the outside then the inside. Happy Bending!

14.01.2022 Its so hot... and I am feeling so unmotivated to go and ride my horses. Anyone else feeling the same way? But then, I need to remind myself how much I LOVE to ride and how much I love to be with my horses. And instead of moping around whinging, I need to just go and do it. Cause, aint no one else going to do it for me!

13.01.2022 Making the most of this last week of holidays :)

11.01.2022 I saw this man ride again this year at the Cowboy dressage nationals... and say he is soft and in harmony with his horse is an understatement. I want to ride like Ken! and lucky for us I have organised to get him up here!

10.01.2022 Morning ladies! Earlier this morning I was playing with my ponies and I had a sudden brainwave! OMG! I was thinking how good it would be if there was a group on facebook where we could share our horsewomanship tips, ask for help, share videos etc of our horses. A place where we weren't afraid to ask questions and seek to find the ideal answers. I struggle with commenting on many pages as I dont feel like its the right 'vibe', or I feel my answer or question might be judged. ...And I also struggle to find groups who have a similar type of horsemanship... one that isnt dominant based. I was thinking I might look into starting a group on facebook where we could all share and help each other. What is your thoughts on this? I dont have anything to gain from it - Im not a 'trainer' or 'instructor' anymore. I just love to help others :) Edit to add: I did it! https://www.facebook.com/groups/218766972632719/

09.01.2022 People check this out! This will be awesome :)

07.01.2022 First haltering of Dodge today.... one week since being mustered - 4 sessions in the yard. He is a sweetheart

06.01.2022 Another amazing read by Anna Blake. I'm being very conscious about paying attention to the calming signals while working with the unhandled horses i have here atm. It's amazing how these horses can go into the freeze mode and allow u do what u want (ie halter) without seeming like they are present ... but then if you pay attention to them more u get a much better response and see their willingness to engage with you. It's amazing. I urge you all to read Anna's words.... especially the "halter correctly" take your time people. Wait for your horse to say yes. Have a good weekend !

05.01.2022 Rides with my boy on his breakers :)

03.01.2022 How many of us "overbend" our horses? Here's a quick vid of a simple exercise to try... set up some cones or markers and walk/trot to the cone. Stop and ask your horse to push their hips around the pole. Take note of how your horse moves. Does he try to bend his neck? Do u use your hands more than your legs? The goal is to make it as subtle and soft as you can then be able to do it while in motion. This is Maggie and Riley working on it. Maggie is riding in a training bosal working on using her legs and body for a more effective communication. This is the very beginning of this exercise. Enjoy!
