22.01.2022 Please DON’T: Wait and See for your child who is not meeting Milestones. Encourage anyone else to Wait and See - regardless of how other kids you know w...ho met milestones late are doing now. An evaluation can determine if a child would benefit from intervention. A child’s need for intervention should never be viewed or suggested as a negative thing. Does needing early intervention mean a child will ALWAYS need intervention? No. Might that child need intervention for a long term duration? Maybe. You won’t regret getting early services but many parents do regret waiting. Also, waitlists in many places are loooooong - so even if you think you want to wait 2-3 months (which in the grand scheme of things isn’t that bad), you still may want to call around and know how long wait lists are in your area because 2 months may turn into much longer.

07.01.2022 This week is Speech Pathology week! Speech week 2021 promotes the work Speech Pathologists do to ensure that "communication is everyone's right". Here is our Speech Pathologist, Anthea, during our "I Have Something to Say" AAC school holiday programme at Geraldton local Library. The programme is designed for children who use alternate forms of communication, including high tech devices, PODD books and communication boards -just to name a few of the many options out there, en...suring everyone has the right to communication. At AbleKids, we're always using innovative technology and strategies to most benefit our clients and their families in achieving their goals.

03.01.2022 Love this reality check list. Thanks Perth Children's Occupational Therapy. We often don’t get it right the first time, but every time we try both adult and child learn something towards the co-regulation strategies that work for each situation.
