23.01.2022 PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST! If you live in Australia & you eat food, this affects you. A few weeks ago, the Australian govt deregulated a new kind of gene edi...ting method (i.e a new kind of GMO) known as SDN1. Meaning that any product that’s been genetically modified using this technique is now exempt from notification &/or traceability (no labelling). These new kinds of GMOs could be inserted into our environment or worse - our food supply - & no one would know! Possible targets for this new kind of genetic editing include: Grains like corn, rice & soy Fruits like strawberries, grapefruit, grapes and apples Vegetables, including potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes and cucumber Animals such as cows, sheep, pigs & fish Even things like yeast & bacteria! Basically if it has DNA, it’s fair game! The amazing (& scary) part is, this deregulation happened without any of us knowing about it! As long as these SDN1 GMOs are allowed to be produced without any of kind of regulation whatsoever, you no longer have the freedom to choose whether or not you expose yourself or your family to them. So what can you do about it? There are 2 things you can do right now. 1. Email your local labour MP using the link below, if we can get the Labour Party to disallow these regulatory changes, then we can ensure our food supply is protected. We only have until 12th November to do this, so don’t wait! 2. Share this post with everyone you know. This issue affects us all, but no-one is talking about. Let’s spread the word & let the govt know that we do not want these science experiments in our food! We’ll share more about this new kind of GMO in the coming days, for now contact your local labour MPs & spread the word! 19.01.2022 This is why we need to listen to our body when we eat certain foods, to understand the impact it can have on our metabolism, mood and cravings. How often do you feel tired after consuming a sugary drink or sweet? The sugar-crash may be common knowledge to many people but it’s important to know that the same effect can be had by consuming whole grains.

14.01.2022 ...... swipe for sequence ...... . Zucchinis are like people. . There are a lot of them and they look good but are they very interesting? Maybe not.... . And really, how many do you want in your life? Not many probably. . Yet in some ways zucchinis are not like people. For instance, they are peaceful and reliable and content - in the main. . They are good listeners. They are trustworthy. They seem to have an attitude of live and let live. . They would make excellent friends were it not for the fact that they are...zucchinis. . . . #Repost @leunigstudio See more

13.01.2022 Spring Lamb chops with rainbow coleslaw - GF, DF Dinner for 4 in under 30 minutes?... Yes please! INGREDIENTS... 1.5kg Spring Lamb Chops 1 tbs dried oregano Salt & pepper to season 1 lemon, juiced MAYONNAISE 2 egg yolks 1 tbs Dijon mustard 1 lemon, juiced Salt Pepper 1 tbs sweet paprika 150ml Extra Virgin olive Oil 150ml Coconut Oil COLESLAW 1/2 Red cabbage, thinly sliced 3 medium carrots, grated 1 green apple, thinly sliced 1/2 fennel, thinly sliced 1/2 bunch parsley, chopped 1/2 cup pepita seeds METHOD season lamb chops with salt, pepper, dried oregano & juice of 1/2 lemon. Place on a lined baking tray and bake in the oven at 200C for 15 minutes, turning once during this time. Meanwhile, chop all your veg for the coleslaw + pepita seeds and place into a large mixing bowl. To make the mayonnaise, mix egg yolks, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, a pinch of salt and pepper, 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard into a bowl. Mix the EVOO and coconut oil together into a measuring jug and, whilst whisking the egg mixture in the bowl, pour the oil VERY SLOWLY (starting with 1 drop at a time and then working up to 1 tablespoon and then more as the mixture thickens) until the mixture begins to emulsify and thicken. HANDY TIP: If the Mayo splits, STOP and add 1 tablespoon of boiling water whilst whisking to try and bring the mixture back together before continuing. Once all the oil has been used, season with more salt, pepper and lemon juice to taste and pour the Mayo into the bowl of chopped veg. Coleslaw done! Once the lamb chops are ready, place everything in the middle of the table and enjoy!
13.01.2022 SILLY SATURDAY PANCAKES - GF, DF, refined sugar free We have pancakes on a weekly basis and when you choose to go gluten free the quest begins to find the right gluten free flour that gives a similar texture to what we’re used to. So far, the two flours that work best for me are buckwheat and Orgran gluten free flour blend which you should be able to find in the health food section of most supermarkets and health food stores. Ps: I asked Ollie to come up with the name of the... recipe. Ingredients 2 cups Orgran gluten free flour blend 4 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup coconut sugar or honey 1/4 melted coconut oil 2 eggs 1 tbs cinnamon 1 1/2 cups coconut milk Pinch of sea salt Method 1- Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl 2- Whisk wet ingredients together and slowly incorporate into dry mixture to ensure a lump-free mixture. 3- Once mixed through you may need some extra milk or water to make sure the consistency is right. It should look like cake batter 4- Melt 1 tsp of coconut oil in a pan on medium heat and add 1 heaped tablespoon of the batter to the pan. Cook for approx 2 minutes and then flip and cook for another minute. 5- serve with fresh berries, banana, coconut yoghurt and enjoy! I’d love to know when you’ve tried this recipe and if you’ve got any questions, let me know!
11.01.2022 Cooking is an art and patience a virtue. Careful shopping, fresh ingredients, and an unhurried approach are nearly all you need. There is one more thing, love. Love for food and love for those you invite to your table - Keith Floyd
10.01.2022 Hey, I’m Chris, I’m a nutritionist-in-training, devoted foodie, husband and a dad to two incredible young children. I started ABNutrition because I want to share my experiences with raising young children, feeding them nutritious whole foods and to educate and inspire young families/parents-to-be on how to provide healthy food for their family. Thank you to everyone who has liked my page so far, it's really encouraging to see so many people get behind initiatives like this.... What can you expect to see from this page? Well, there are exciting things on the horizon but for now, I will aim to provide as much value to you as I can in the form of: >insirping food content to get you into the kitchen and cooking! >sharing the latest nutritional research and interpret/decipher what that might mean for you and your family Enjoy!
10.01.2022 Here’s a great recipe for the kids to make with their parents as well as a midday snack because their hunger never seems to end. I like to mix around the flavours of these muffins depending on what you have left over in the fridge or whatever veg your child likes to eat. Other combinations: *Sweet potato, capsicum and sweet paprika... *Tomato, basil and garlic *Salsa Verde (herb sauce) You can make these in bulk and they will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. ZUCCHINI & BACON EGG MUFFINS -GF, DF Makes 12 small muffins 8 eggs whisked 1 zucchini 1 slice of bacon Pinch Salt Pinch Pepper Pinch mixed herbs Pre heat oven to 180C and line a muffin tray with muffin moulds. Finely chop the zucchini and bacon and place at the bottom of each muffin mould. Whisk eggs together and season with salt, pepper and herbs. Spoon into muffin moulds until 3/4 full and bake for 10-15 minutes until set in the centre. Set aside to cool on a wire rack and serve. ENJOY!

04.01.2022 Please think, think about everything you buy this year for running up to Christmas and beyond. It’s pretty simple and easy. If it’s possible buy Australian. Let’s support Australian farmers and fishermen. Our simple choices make sure they are supported in a time when they need our help. Drought, bushfires and cheap imported products that don’t look after the environment and don’t have our local integrity are best avoided. We need to make sure we are looking to the future, and help our great Australians who feed us everyday, as we all grapple with climate change and focus on change for good. The future is in our hands. #knowyourproducer #knowyourfarmer #buyaustralianmade Repost @chefneilperry
03.01.2022 EAT, RELAX AND LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL... New research has shown that there may be a connection between food comas (having a dedicated rest/sleep after eating copious amounts of food) and establishing long term memories. "In humans, food intake promotes the release of the hormone insulin, which prompts the cells of the body to absorb nutrients from the bloodstream and turn them into fat for long-term storage," explains Kukushkin. "However, insulin is thought to have little ...effect on the brain. By contrast, a related hormone, insulin-like growth factor II, has been shown to be critical for proper brain function, including long-term memory formation. However, its release does not depend on calorie intake. Conclusion: Don’t let that wafer-thin after dinner mint stand in the way of making long-lasting memories!
