25.01.2022 In October 2018 the Barunga Store changed management to a traditional owned and operated model supported by AIG. These days the store committee plays an active role in setting store prices. As you would imagine with the change of management, prices went down heaps 51% to be exact. Many thought this would make the store less profitable, but interestingly the opposite has happened. Instead of losing hundreds of thousands each year as was the case under the previous managem...ent group, the store is making a profit! Cheaper prices have created more profit because more people are shopping in the store. We believe this is because they can now afford it. AIG is committed to working with store owners to set prices that are realistic for the customer, therefore contributing to food security.

21.01.2022 The CEO of Outback Stores, Mr Borg says you won’t find cheap frozen pizzas in any Outback Stores. He’s got that right. A McCains frozen pizza costs $10.20 in the Beswick Store and 25km down the road in a store that we manage, it costs $7. Ahh McCain, you’ve done it again.

21.01.2022 Welcome news for those in lockdown. Yet another demonstration of the strength and resilience of people who live remote in the NT.

18.01.2022 A shocking story AIG has fought hard to have told. Check out our blog to read the full article published in The Australian newspaper about deliberate wasting of food in remote communities to meet quotas. https://www.aiggroup.org.au/fighting-rotten-remote-store-m/

17.01.2022 Yarralin Community Store had it's first licensing check since AIG took over management and we got an excellent report card. Out of extensive checklist used by NIAA at all stores, Yarralin only presented 3 minor issues that needed to be fixed. To put that into perspective, the NIAA officers explained the best store they had seen prior to Yarralin had 21 issues that needed to be fixed. The officers struggled to find anything that needed fixing in the store and said it was extr...emely unusual to have so few issues to be addressed their report. 13.01.2022 In the last 12 months AIG has doubled the sale of fruit and vegetables in two of the community stores we manage, and we believe this is primarily because of how we price in stores. Contrary to popular belief that fruit and vegetables don’t sell in community stores, AIG is proud of increasing sales of fruit and vegetables in all of the stores we manage in the last 12 months. 09.01.2022 Prices in community stores are high so the shoppers are losing. The stores are running at a loss so there are no profits for store owners. Outback Stores is the only group with money in their pocket. Does anyone else see an issue with this because I most certainly do says our CEO Steve Smith. Check out our full article which will bring you up to speed with the federal inquiry into food security and food prices in remote Indigenous communities. https://aiggroup.org.au/scrutiny-community-store-pricing-co
