24.01.2022 "Dr Fragar said she was honoured to paint her friend and fellow artist, Richard Bell the eighth time he has appeared in a finalist portrait. The painting was based on a series of photographs by QCA alumnus Louis Lim. Richard is well known as a fearless artist with a sharp mind and a big personality. Sometimes, though, when talking about personal experiences, he shows a quieter side,’ she said. He occasionally tells the story of growing up in south-west Queensland where th...e home he lived in was demolished by local authorities. I wanted to refer to something of that loss and to show two sides of Richard the fearless and the feeling." https://news.griffith.edu.au//griffith-artists-selected-f/

18.01.2022 Join our co-founder Jessica Staines in her brand new course, Top Questions Answered! Many early childhood educators are hesitant to begin including Indigenous perspectives in their program out of fear of getting it wrong. Complicating the matter further, there is an abundance of conflicting advise and views within the early childhood profession when it comes to Aboriginal perspectives. Navigating the spectrum of voices and views can be confusing and overwhelming for educators... and most wish there was a simple way of ascertaining the do’s and the don’ts. Do you want to know what is and isn’t ok in regards to the inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives in your curriculum? The Koori Curriculum has developed a short course for early childhood educators sharing their perspectives on commonly asked questions. This offering covers topics such as the use of dreaming stories, the playing of the didgeridoo, how to find an Elder and much more. For more details visit: https://kooricurriculum.com//online-courses/products/910054

07.01.2022 I think a lot of people would be surprised by how colourful and modern Aboriginal art has become, says Yaama Ganu Gallery director Toby Osmond of the pieces available at the not-for-profit Aboriginal art gallery and café located in Moree, NSW. We see a large part of our job as to educate people as to how vibrant and contemporary the industry now is. Many people walk into the gallery expecting to see images of brown goannas with traditional iconography, sure there will al...ways be a place for that, but the reality is so much of the work that is now being produced sees some of the most sophisticated use of colour from any contemporary artist working today. https://www.vogue.com.au//image-gallery/c783b42ddb34c0328a

We know that Aboriginal art is imbued with stories and traditional knowledge and often stories are expressed as art as a way of preserving these stories and knowledge for future generations.
