20.01.2022 Racism writ large. Aboriginal drivers recieved more than 3 times the number of traffic infringement notices nd fines than non Aboriginal drivers when police are directly involved but recieve the same number as other drivers when infringements are determined by electronic means

20.01.2022 Yet again Aboriginal students in remote communities continue to be sacrificed to educational programs known to be failures. The Noel Pearson promoted program called Direct Instruction has never had any educational credibility. It is part of the angry authoritarian reponse of those addicted to power when their assumptions of superiority are proven false. Children (like the unemployed and asylum-seekers) are blamed for the failures of systems over which they have no control, a...nd punished with ever-more draconian measures. These powerful opressors are unfortunately enabled and assisted by certain First Nations "leaders". In spite of the evidence of its failure and the recommendations of the steering committee the federal minister for education has extended funding for this destructive program. https://www.watoday.com.au//30m-literacy-program-fails-to-

01.01.2022 Today, as every day, I acknowledge the land that we live and work on as belonging to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. This land was never ceded. Acknowledging that the work of reconciliation and addressing the impacts of colonisation, starts with us & our awareness of how I personally benefit from this history every day. The AEC is committed to working in collaboration built on trust and respect with First Nations and other Australians to address inequity, acknowledge and reconcile our history, and change the conditions that keep inequality in place. #InThisTogether2020 #NRW2020

01.01.2022 It is with a great deal of sadness that the AEC offers its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Graham Mooney who passed away this week. Graham's funeral will be held at 2pm on Friday 17 January at St Mary's Church in Erskinville, with a wake following the service at the Friend in Hand Hotel in Glebe. Graham's energy, enthusiasm and dedication will be sorely missed.
