05.01.2022 We are excited to share that on January the 23rd our Tackling Indigenous Smoking Team will be onsite at the Gynburra Festival in Port Victoria on the Yorke Peninsula. The Gynburra Festival celebrates the traditions of the first people of Guuranda, the Narungga name for the Yorke Peninsula, hosting a fun and inclusive family event. As has been tradition for the last 50 years, the festival is centred around a fishing competition, in which men and boys from Narungga hunt Gynbur...ra otherwise known as Butterfish or Dusky Morwong using traditional spear fishing practices. Gynburra is an event that celebrates our connection to Guurunda, both our spiritual and cultural connection to that country, says event organiser Garry Goldsmith. While the competition is for men and boys, women and girls can take part in a pamper day back on the land, with a variety of activities available between 11am and 4pm. Community events like Gynburra are a great way to connect back to country and community, while celebrating our culture. You can find out more about the Gynburra Festival here: http://bit.ly/3bZtg6O
