21.01.2022 Never fear WOND is here

15.01.2022 Yaama, I’m posting this unedited raw just to highlight the importance of what’s at risk. Please see examples of written submissions or do a video and inbox us ...here or at Gomeroi Traditional Custodians From Biridja to Billaga we need to save what’s left & on this trip I’ve learnt that so much has been destroyed already with so much to fight for we must unite and use all available tools and resource to demand common sense prevails. This clip might help to explain the need to protect our sacred sites and burials..if you haven't put your name forward to support the sec 10 last resort protection please do so ..pm your details and comments please https://youtu.be/qpN0XE0FmVo Example 1) Aboriginal cultural sites and artefacts are a form of documented history that this land is blessed with like no other in the world. While I am a descendant of Anglo/Celtic heritage, I also recognise the importance of humanity's history in all its forms. The Gomoroi nation is a part of the oldest continuous culture in the world, so it would be utter madness to destroy what link we have with history for the sake of a short lived coal mine. This is coupled with the fact the Liverpool Plains contains the most fertile food growing soil on the continent (second most in the world). And according to the NSW Government’s own website records Threatened Species found in Liverpool Plains IBRA sub-region, the Regent Honeyeater is critically endangered along with 40 other endangered bird species, 11 marsupials, including critically endangered Koalas, 8 bat species, 2 reptiles, 1 native rodent and 13 plants species, also there are 8 Critically endangered or endangered community ecosystems in the Liverpool Plains area The proposed coal mine is the height of futile destruction of these historical and sacred lands, especially in the face of global warming when the need to move to renewable energy forms is now more urgent than ever. Example 2) Yaama in my traditional Gomeroi language means hello. My name is Victoria van Schie. I live at ************My phone number is ************ I am a proud Gomeroi woman with connections to traditional Gomeroi lands like the Billiga through my fathers grandmothers family connections to the Doolan’s. I wish for my name to be added to the list of those strongly opposed to the Shenua Watermark Application under Section 10 of the ATSIHP Protection Application. As a strong and proud Gomeroi yinaar (woman) my connections through bloodlines date back to the beginning of time. My connection through lore to these places tie me to the land. They are like an artery from the heart, spreading through and pumping vital life through my body. I am connected through bloodlines and songlines to this land and the destruction to these sacred sites and lands means you permanently sever a vital artery - my songline connection to these places. This is not something that can ever be undone or repaired. Once that vital artery is cut, a part of who we are, our connections to our mothers and fathers, their mothers, mothers, mother and their fathers, fathers, father will be lost. The destruction of these sites would be like taking a bulldozer to the graves of our diggers, like destroying our greatest, most valued memorials. In your Heritage Management Plan you state that you will provide for the appreciation of heritage values within the Project Boundary by future generations either through protection of sites, where impact is avoidable, or through salvage collection and excavation of a sample of objects. As First Nations people, and people belonging to the land you seek to destroy, we implore you to listen to us. To appreciate that we are best placed to know where our sacred sites are that need protecting. We are the voices you should listen to when attempting to find alternative sites rather than those that hold such significant cultural, spiritual and historical importance not only to us as Gomeroi people; but to Australians collectively. I implore you to take a stand, to hear our voices seeking your assistance to protect these sacred sites from permanent destruction.
