18.01.2022 If you are in the tourism industry, the below Grant Opportunity might be of interest to you. Please get in touch if you want us to assist you. Grant Opportunity: Tourism Grants for Indigenous Business... What is the Tourism Grant for Indigenous Business program? The Tourism Grants for Indigenous Business Program is one part of the Government’s commitment to establish a $40 million Indigenous Tourism Fund (ITF). The ITF was developed in consultation with the Indigenous tourism sector and includes business support and grants for Indigenous tourism businesses. The ITF will deliver complementary programs to grow the size and number of Indigenous-owned tourism businesses Australia. The Tourism Grants for Indigenous Business Program will provide up to $12 million over four years in small grants to help individual businesses and community organisations invest in developing new products, equipment, business planning and marketing in the tourism sector. Following this financial year, funding of up to $3 million per annum will be made available in separate grant opportunities in 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24. What else is included in the Indigenous Tourism Fund? Separate elements of the ITF are designed to work together to support Indigenous tourism businesses. The Indigenous Tourism Mentoring Program is an individualised mentoring program to help businesses gain practical advice from industry experts. The program will receive $10 million over four years. The Strategic Indigenous Tourism Projects will provide up to $17 million to the states and territories to co-invest in and generate supply chain opportunities for Indigenous owned tourism businesses. This recognises each jurisdiction’s unique Indigenous tourism opportunity and investment needs. The National Indigenous Tourism Advisory Group will advise the Government on future priorities for the sector and provide an Indigenous voice in the implementation of the Indigenous Tourism Fund. This is particularly important given the huge impact of COVID-19 on the sector. What is a tourism business? Tourism businesses provide services to domestic and international visitors on trips shorter than one year. Visitors include those travelling for leisure, personal reasons, such as visiting friends and relatives and work-related purposes. A tourism business is any business that relies significantly on tourists including both direct and indirect consumption of the main product or service of the business.
