25.01.2022 I wasnt sure if I was going to like this book, based on no reason, but I did. I really liked it, I found it a page turner. City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, have you read it? I recommend! A good Bookclub book to read too ... . . . #bookstagram #bookreview #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookclub #bookclubsofinstagram #aboxofbookclub #booksubscriptionbox #readersofinstagram #reader #bookphotography #igbooks #bookreviewer @bloomsburypublishing

24.01.2022 I chose to read this because it’s set on our beloved Magnetic Island. It’s a good holiday read by North Queensland author Barbara Hannay. The Sisters Gift is a lovely story of two sisters and a daughter, family ties, love and sacrifice. Secrets, second chances and new beginnings. I loved being transported to the Island while being stuck in Sydney the book felt like a real escape. A sweet read.

24.01.2022 Scrublands...a page turner! Have you read it? I missed sleep reading this one because I wanted to find out what what happened and there were new twists all the time. I do love a good Australian thriller and this one by Chris Hammer hits the mark! Journalist Mark Scarsden arrives in a remote Australian town with not much life left in it. The year before a beloved priest shot and killed 5 towns people and was then shot himself. Martin came to write a story about the town a year... on, what he discovered and how he personally became involved with twists and turns and unexpected events makes for a gripping plot and great storytelling. Worth the read. . . . #aboxofbookclub #bookclub #bookclubofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookreview #reader #readersofinstagram #bibliophile #booklover #igbooks #tbr #bookish #booklover @allenandunwin #australianbooks See more

23.01.2022 Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid is a good way to escape during self isolation. Its a novel that you can take as lightly or deeply as you like. Set in New York and Philadelphia it follows the story of Alix who has invented a life for herself that leaves her past way behind and Emira a babysitter still trying to find who she is and what she stands for. Emira is caught up in a situation one night when she is accused of kidnapping Alixs daughter when in fact she is babysitting her. The story unfolds from there and delves into racism, privilege and being true to yourself. Worth reading & a good Bookclub read too! Have you read it? .

23.01.2022 Armchair travel Wednesday. One day Id like to visit the @starfield.library I Seoul in real life but for the moment Instagram can take us there!!! @harimaolee .

23.01.2022 Currently reading ... The Silk House by Kayte Nunn. Ive become quite the fan, this is her third historical fiction novel. This one is a gothic mystery set in the English countryside spanning over several centuries and the different inhabitants of the Silk House. Loving it so far cant wait to read more!! .

23.01.2022 If you havent already read this over the break. Its light and fun. Also on a completely different note I also highly recommend Unorthodox on Netflix. Have you seen it?

22.01.2022 I haven’t posted any books for a while as quite a few of my recent reads have been a bit meh and I don’t want to do bad reviews of something someone has put so much effort into. So I just finished Honeybee by Craig Silvey and loved it! Have you read it? A coming of age novel by the author of Jasper Jones. Sam Watson has had a traumatic childhood, only child of a single, addict Mum the novel starts dramatically with a chance meeting and unfolds from there. It’s hard not to reveal the story so all I’m going to say is that it’s worth the read. Add it to your list.

21.01.2022 Bruny by Heather Rose. This book has got it all, intrigue, twists, thrills, romance, family ties, political maneuvering, conspiracy theories and drama! I loved it, have you read it? A $2billion bridge is being constructed to join Bruny Island to the rest of Tasmania, why? Then its bombed .. Astrid, a UN conflict specialist is asked by her brother the Tasmania Premier to return home to help him get the build back on track before the next election. Their sister is the leader of the Opposition. Who is behind the bombing? Why is $2 billion being spend on a bridge in Tasmania in the first place? Who is loyal to who? Whats going on in the government? Whats going on in their family and what is going on in Bruny? A great read, entertaining thought provoking and how close to what could happen in reality?? Highly recommend.

21.01.2022 To all the wonderful Mothers, those with us, those passed, those hopeful, those watching from above, thank you for all that you are, that you do, that you did. You are loved and appreciated. Mothers Day 2020 @carmenrprp . . . #mothersday #mothersday2020

20.01.2022 A Box Of started as a passion project, new to North Queensland I wanted to do something to support my new community and spread kindness to those in need ... which is everyone! I loved seeking out small local businesses and female entrepreneurs across Australia who created beautiful products. A Box Of grew into a little business offering new baby gifts, bereavement gifts, thinking of you gifts, birthday and teacher gift boxes, it expanded to corporate gifting services, housew...arming and client thank you and gifts to help others show how much they cared. I loved curating each and every box. It morphed into subscription book boxes which has been do much fun. With a move back to Sydney and a return to the corporate world and the daily asks of family life I havent been able to dedicate the time that A Box Of deserves so have made the tough decision to shut the virtual doors. Its been an absolute joy, an amazing learning experience and Ive made many new friends from it as well. I strongly encourage all of you with an idea to go for it, you never know where it might take you. Xx See more

20.01.2022 Any of this happening in your house? Time to dance - I dare you!

20.01.2022 Young Stanley and I highly recommend Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld is an excellent read. While fiction there’s enough connection to real events to make you think that the story is totally plausible had Hillary decided not to marry Bill Clinton in real life. This book is great for bookclubs as it can generate so much discussion in so many areas. What if Hillary didn’t marry Bill, is sexism even more prevailing in America than racism, what lengths would your morals and ethics let you go to to be the ultimate leader, is it about power and control or more altruistic??? So much to discuss and a well written and thought out read. Completely engaging. have you read it? What did you think?

17.01.2022 The Dutch House by Anne Patchett is a really good read. Centering around the Dutch House a 1922 mansion in the suburbs of Philadelphia Danny Conroy tells the story of his life and its not an ordinary story. With elder sister Maeve the two navigate life in the house and what happens after their father dies. I dont want to give too much away but its moving & engaging. Its about injustice, forgiveness and love this family saga has it all.

16.01.2022 Am feeling that a bit of Friday Fizz is in order, how about you? Also am a bit in love with these glasses on the hunt for them now!! via @amybarseghian

16.01.2022 RUOK? Today is RUOK Day but really every day should be where we check in with each other and actually go beyond the question. This year especially with so many isolated, sick, losing jobs and the general state of turmoil in the world the drain on our mental reserves can be taking its toll. So Im asking are you ok? Ive always got a listening ear and an open mind. Xxx.

15.01.2022 Finally got to read Educated a memoir by Tara Westover and was hooked. Such a fascinating & remarkable life story with an inspiring outcome. An astonishing book that is a must read! Also another great one for a Bookclub. So many points to discuss!! Im planning on using social distancing time to make a dent in the #tbrpile. 15.01.2022 Recommending again Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid in light of recent events in the US. Its a gentle eye opener and thought provoking and nothing that you expect from the title. Also am loving the @pieladybooks account where this is from. .

13.01.2022 The shop maybe shut but Im still reading!! A Theatre for Dreamers by Polly Samson will transport you away to another time, another place, a different stage of life. Ive read some rave reviews about this book and I liked it but perhaps didnt read it as deeply. Set in the 60s on the Greek Island Of Hydra a bohemian set of people live there including Leonard Cohen! The story weaves through their lives and is written in the first person by Erica a young girl on the periphery of events, watching and learning from all the others. Its pure escapism and a good holiday read. . . . #reader #books #bookreview#bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookclub #aboxofbookclub #bookclubofinstagram #booklover #readersofinstagram #igbooks @bloomsburypublishing

12.01.2022 Holiday read. Im not usually all that into non fiction however this book Phosphoresce by Julia Baird is superbly written, discusses the importance of ensuring we always have awe in our lives and has me almost convinced to take up ocean swimming again. 11.01.2022 Heading off on a break? This is not a new release but I just finished it and recommend. The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter. Lots of twists and turns & unexpected happenings to keep you turning the pages. Two sisters experience a horrific and tragic life changing event in childhood and the story is of how their lives go on from there with things coming full circle years 28 years later. Add it to your TBR pile!. . . . #bookreview #bookreviews #bookclub #aboxofbookclub #instabookclub #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #reader #readersofinstagram #booklover #bookaholic #bibliophile

11.01.2022 Jane Harpers latest, The Survivors, doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it and this one is set in Tasmania. Unexpected twists and some red herrings thrown in to keep you guessing. I have read some reviews that say she is using the same formula in her books but who cares, it’s entertaining, well written and keeps you turning the pages. Highly recommend! Have you read it? .

10.01.2022 It’s been a while between book reviews as I seem to have fallen down the Netflix rabbit hole (Queens Gambit, The Crown and already on to the Christmas movies with my girls). Anyway I’m a bit late to the party with Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak and to be honest didn’t fly through it. Have you read it? What did you think? The story itself is lovely, tender, heartbreaking, heartwarming but I found it a bit tough going at times. I think I just lived the Book Thief so much it’s hard to match up to. But it’s a coming of age unique read. Recommend.

09.01.2022 What are you reading these holidays / lockdown? I’m getting stuck into Trent Daltons new novel All Our Shimmering Skies. So far so good...

08.01.2022 How many of these have you read? I’ve only read 2, Rodham (loved), Such a Fun Age (also loved). I also just bought today Kamala Harris’s memoir both the adult and tween versions via the Rebel Gifls Facebook page. Lots of reading in my future I think!! You?

08.01.2022 Really enjoyed this page turner. Debut novel by Anna Downes is a story of secrets and lies wrapped in the beauty of a remote French Estate. Emilys life is a mess, no job, no home until she is offered what seems like the perfect answer to her problems. A housekeeping job in paradise! Scott the CEO of her former place of work offers her a job looking after his stunning wife and daughter at their French compound. Wine filled, sun drenched days follow but something is a little off. You will have to read it to find out what happens next ... suspense!!! Recommend! .

04.01.2022 Its not often Im totally surprised by a twist in a tale but this one had a twist that I didnt see coming!! The Wife and the Widow by Christian White is a great read. A real page turner, a mystery/ thriller set in Melbourne and a small island off the coast tells the story of Kate, the widow and Abby the wife but nothing is as it seems. Thats all Im going to say so that I dont spoil it but read it, Im sure youll be hooked too! Thank you to the @aboxofbookclub er who recommended it.

03.01.2022 Thank you for all the recent book recommendations Ive got them all piled up. Just finished the Karin Slaughtet novella (a prequel to the Good Daughter), and started on The Dutch House but itching to get stuck into Sex and Vanity as a good giggle is in order dont you think!! Whats in your TBR pile?

02.01.2022 This was a fun, easy read. It had me laughing and is the perfect tonic for brightening the mood. Froth and bubbles, mainly, a very 20s love story and funny. Apparently a modern take on A Room with a View. Add it to your list if you are after a light read.

02.01.2022 Current TBR pile. Just about finished Rodham which is excellent & itching to start The Survivors. What’s on your list?

02.01.2022 Good Monday! Heres to a cracking week, its a tad chilly this morning in Sydney, schools back for some too stay healthy. . . #monday #mondaymood #mondayvibes #mondaymorning #coffee #coffeelover #coffeetime

01.01.2022 Im going to keep posting book reviews during this crazy time we are in. Reading is a great way to keep occupied & escape the unprecedented reality we are facing. We each have a responsibility to stop the spread, its not keep calm and carry on. Its stay home, wash your hands, spread kindness to each other not virus! So this weeks review is ...The Cactus by Sarah Haywood. It reminded me very much of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine which I adored. This one didnt spark t...he same level of sentiment but an enjoyable read all the same. Witty and twisty, Susan Green is 45, single but in a mutually convenient arrangement, is organised, sensible with a keen sense of justice has her life turned upside down following the death of her mother. The story is about what happens next. Not going to give anything away if you are going to read it, took a little bit to get into but an easy read after that. . . . #book #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookclub #booksofinstagram #bookreview #bookreviewer #readersofinstagram #reader #readersofinsta #bookphotography #bookphoto #tbrlist @tworoadsbooks #spreadkindnessnotvirus #stayhome #aboxofbookclub See more
