21.01.2022 As running participation rates soar a common question we are asked is - How long does a running shoe last Data suggests 600-800km is the amount after which your shoe loses it efficiency and responsiveness. This is impacted by a number of factors including body mass, shoe type, terrain, weather, speed. You will usually know when your shoe is no longer performing at its best, but it is worth keeping track of all those kilometres !!

16.01.2022 After completing my first half marathon yesterday, today I am experiencing a severe case of the dreaded DOMS!! DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) usually results from performing high intensity or long duration exercise that our body isn’t quite accustomed to. And it sucks! It usually last for 3-4 days following exercise and should be gone after roughly a week. How can we improve DOMS? The jury is still out on this one but active recovery post exercise (walking, riding, swimming), ice baths, stretching or massage may help. In the meantime I’ll be avoiding stairs or low chairs for a while! If your DOMS pain persists you should get it assessed to confirm its not something more serious, so you can get back to whatever sport it is that you love!
