11.01.2022 On Monday November 4, two weeks ago, Mark Delaney and I ran a workshop at South Brisbane Hebrew Congregation, for people of all faiths, called, "Low Carbon and Loving It." Mark was the speaker and facilitator, I organised vegan food, venue and lots of advertising. We got about 25 people and people were very engaged with the topic. Thanks Mark Delaney for your excellent presentation. Thanks Aunty Betty McGrady for doing our Acknowledgement of Country. Thanks to all who came an...d participated, sharing ideas about how we can all lower our carbon footprints. Thanks to my friends from SBHC who made food. Thanks to my darling husband, David Abramson, my technical assistant at all times. Thanks also to Cathy Delaney who managed the Power Point, and who just got involved and helped prepare food and helped clean up. So grateful for the teamwork that makes such an event possible! 02.01.2022 Low carbon living

02.01.2022 On Thursday March 20 I had the honour of representing my synagogue and an "International Harmony Day" event at the Algester Mosque. Being so soon after the horrific event at two mosques in Christchurch, the focus was on honouring the dead, but also on Peace Building and how it is done. The speeches by two Imams and the Principal of Wisdom College were inspiring, focussing on peace and tolerance in Islam. The children of Wisdom College's choir sang also for the large crowd. At... the end I spoke just for a couple of minutes about the pain that I feel for the losses to the Islamic community and explained that the Jewish Community supports them. Lots of people nodded and smiled. I remember that several imams came to Brisbane Hebrew Congregation to support us after the Pittsburgh synagogue shootings. Our common humanity is very important all the time, but even more so when we are in pain. See more

01.01.2022 On Friday 22 March, I had the honour of representing my Synagogue, South Brisbane Hebrew Congregation at a ceremony at the Algester Mosque. The event was a ceremony for International Harmony Day. It doubled as a commemoration of the dead from the massacre in two mosques in Christchurch one week before. There were speeches from two Imams and the Principal of Wisdom College. All spoke about the importance of peace and tolerance in Islam. The student choir from Wisdom College s...ang some songs for us. We gathered in a large circle around them, and many of us held hands. It was a very emotional moment. At the end a young Indigenous man from the Murrie School gave a short speech that he had prepared about accepting others. I spoke last and offered my condolences and the support of the Jewish Community. Lots of people smiled and nodded. When the Jewish Community were mourning our dead from the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, also from a White Supremacist monster, many Christians and Muslims came to the service at Brisbane Hebrew Congregation. It is important to be on friendly terms with our neighbours all the time, but support when we are grieving is so appreciated. See more
