25.01.2022 What is Nitro Coffee? Nitro coffee is a type of cold brew coffee that is infused with nitrogen gas to achieve a unique flavour and mouthfeel. This fantastic cold summer drink was first served on tap around 2012, and since then the popularity has spiked! So, why nitrogen in coffee?... Nitrogen is a tasteless and odourless gas, also is a little more difficult to infuse into liquids (well more difficult than CO2). If youve never heard about nitro coffee you might have the thought that this drink would be fizzy? However this is not the case. Nitrogen gas adds a sweet flavour to the coffee while also creating a pleasing texture described as creamy/ foamier. Similar to a velvety frothy beer. The Nitrogen make it easier to drink your coffee without any added sweetener, however variations of the drink are an always with some coffee shops adding vanilla syrup or ice-cream. Mmmmm Nitro Float! This delicious drink is served from a tap and stored in a keg (just like beer). The smaller bubbles that the nitrogen create are less likely to become flat which is how the texture stays. You need to be able to pressurise your keg to add in your nitrogen. We all know that fitness fans love their cold brew, so its no surprise that they have taken a strong liking towards Nitro Coffee. As mentioned earlier the drink has its own added hints of sweetness making fanatics able to drink it straight. It also helps that its cold brew meaning less acidity and easy on your digestive system!!! Try some in store @ 28 Manilla Street, East Brisbane

13.01.2022 "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low prices are forgotten" ~Benjamin Franklin Coffee cupping, or coffee tasting, is the practice of observing the tastes and aromas of brewed coffee. Roasters use this process to depict which roasted bean has the best tastes for their style of roasting. Coffee roasters will pull out roasted coffee beans at different points in a roast to agree on timing and blend structure. ... Coffee cupping/ tasting is extremely important to do on a regular basis to ensure consistency. #coffeecupping #goldenbean #finefoodshowwinner #coffee #roasting #infomation

07.01.2022 Bigger and bigger you grow! Following the journey of our little coffee trees! The burgeoning of a coffee plant: Coffee plants can be grown at home and make a good indoor plant if you dont feel like starting your own coffee crop (which our Brisbane conditions arent really suited for anyway). Keep out of direct sunlight and the soil moist. However, if youre in a rush for a cheap cup of coffee dont bother as it can take 3-4 years for a plant to bear fruit.... #coffeetree #coffee #flowers #plants

03.01.2022 Where to keep your beans? - You should store your coffee beans in a dark, non-see-through air tight container. Coffee beans react to the light, heat, air and moisture. Storing in an air tight container in a cool dark area (like the pantry) is the ideal location for your beans. - Your bench top where the sun hits throughout the day isnt very ideal, your cupboard right by the oven is no good either (too Hot!) - Ideally freezing your coffee is not recommended due to the risk o...f condensation. Roasted coffee attracts water. Condensation on coffee can lead to mould in the future. - If you are storing in the freezer be sure you only take out what you need when you need and place directly back in to prevent any condensation. #coffee #coffeelover #coffeefact #storage #freshbeans #flavour #coffeegirl #cupboard #airtight #benchtop #freezer #roasted #besure #storing #beans

02.01.2022 Back to Basics The main differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee. There are dozens of different varieties of coffee bean however they can look same when roasted. When choosing a coffee here are some things to consider, different people have different taste buds therefore you may love a certain coffee whilst your friend absolutely despises it. Its all a question on personal taste. Fact**- Colombia only produces Arabica beans. Some countries, like Brazil and India, pro...duce both Arabica & Robusta. Down below are the key differences between Robusta and Arabica; ** Arabica ** Sweeter, softer taste with tones of sugar, fruits, and berries Higher acidity compared to Robusta Winey taste that seems to complement the acidity Takes several years for the tree to become mature enough to produce fruit Grown in Africa and Papua New Guinea, but grown dominantly in Latin America Ends up being pricier due to the extended grow time Can be found in the supermarket (rarely), beware just because its labelled Arabica does not mean its of high quality. ** Robusta ** Stronger, harsher taste Grain-like overtone & peanutty aftertaste Twice as much caffeine compared to Arabica Usually found in instant coffee and supermarket brands Considered inferior quality compared to Arabica High quality Robustas are valued especially in espressos for their deep flavour and good crema. Easier to grow Grow at lower altitudes Produce fruit quicker Grown exclusively in the Eastern Hemisphere, primarily in Africa and Indonesia
