22.01.2022 YOURE NEVER TO OLD TO EXERCISE! Meet our client Harry. He doesnt look it, but Harry is 91 years old! Amazing right? Him and his wife Meg come to the gym for 30 minutes of resistance and balance training once a week and they rarely ever miss a session.... Harry and Meg demonstrate to us that you really are, never to old to lift weights. In fact, strength training is a vital part of remaining healthy in those later years. The natural aging process leads to distinct muscle mass and strength loss, with a 15% loss per decade over the age of 50. Studies show that strength training can slow this process and help to combat the musculoskeletal issues associated with aging. Other benifits of strength & resistance training include: Increased lean muscle mass Increased metabolic rate Preserve/increase bone density & joint health Increased balance & decreased risk of falls or injury Prevention of muscle loss associated with aging Improved sleep Improved mental health & reduced depression Reduced risk and symptoms of some chronic diseases Improved cognitive function Potential to reduce risk of dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease As Allied Health Professionals who specialise in using exercise as medicine, Exercise Physiologists are the best professionals to help you remain active at all ages. To organise an appointment for yourself or a loved one, contact our friendly team on 0426 299 037 or [email protected]

22.01.2022 Remember when you were a child and it was so much fun to see who could jump the highest? Well, jumping isn’t just for kids to see who’s the boss of the playground, it is also very beneficial for your body at any age or fitness level. So why not bring some fun back into your training and give it a go? Our cleaver EP’s have outlined just 3 ways that incorporating jumping into your exercise routine can help to improve your health (but there are heaps more): 1. Increases your str...ength! Jumping increases bone and muscle tension from repeated loading of your joints to create strong and healthy muscles. 2. Lose excess body weight. Jumping burns fat! 800-1000 calories per hour. In fact jumping increases your metabolism for the rest of the day as well. 3. Improves your balance and coordination. Jumping is a controlled instability movement that helps the tendons and neural fibers of the body connect. The more you do, the better they get at it. So next time you're in the gym, why not try incorporating some small jumping movements into your program, or step it up (pun intended) and try some box jumping! If Grant (75) and Neville (73) can do it, you can too!

20.01.2022 Active body solutions is a welcoming community, where youll find the support and accountability that you need to reach any health or fitness goal. Research suggests that individuals who participate in exercise with a friend or group are more likely to adhere to exercise, lose weight, and improve fitness than those who dont. And if you ask us, its a whole lot more enjoyable too! However, at ABS we know that there are people out there who have always wanted to be part of a... fitness group, but to feel overwhelmed or embarrassed to try. We are here to help you too! An exercise professional can guide you through exercises in a one-on-one setting before jumping into a class. This way they can help you understand the basics and assess where you might have weaknesses or imbalances in they body that might lead to injuries down the line.

17.01.2022 What is hydrotherapy? Hydrotherapy is exercise that is performed within a pool as a means of treatment for a variety of health conditions. Traditionally it is completed in a heated pool as this allows for the body to relax. Hydrotherapy is beneficial as it provides pain relief for those with chronic conditions such as arthritis and back pain. It takes the load off the body and allows the body to move more freely with a greater range of movement compared to exercise on land. It can even be used as a safe way to work on your balance without the fear of falling! Ask one of our friendly exercise physiologists up at Club Lime for more information about how hydrotherapy could be beneficial for you
