14.01.2022 Watch Out! Today’s headline story is of #BD_VIPERS in their debut match in their first ever tournament they pulled off a memorable win by 45 runs defeating the OzNSUers at Crest Oval today! #SUMMERS_GREATEST_BATTLE

12.01.2022 Breaking News: Ground Inspections have been complete and ALL games are still ON at this stage!

11.01.2022 #SUMMERS_GREATEST_BATTLE #INTERN_STIG_PREDICTIONS WEEK #5 Nearly had another perfect round of predictions but Randwick Raiders and the Dhaka Chargers let me down. Oh well! Well done SBT and Ekattor ... Let me brushen up my keyboard for another round! #26.23 Randwick Raiders vs Chittagong Thunder Well the Thunder nearly struck last week vs PIFI losing by a very small margin in an equally smallish ground. In the end they just didnt have enough wickets left, but for the Thunder thats two good performances in a row that ended in defeat. Randwick on the other hand are yet to go into their strides. They may just have enough quality to overcome Thunder but expect a close contest nonetheless Prediction: RR #26.24 WAS vs OzNSUers If I was an OZNSUers fan I would hope the team did not watch Ishmam's performance last week in another comp. The WAS captain has matured into a fine cricketer just like a nice bottle of Barossa Shiraz. WAS put in a top shelf performance last summer being unbeaten in the group stages, and tomorrow morning its likely the misery will continue for the OzNSUers whose catching has so far let them down. Prediciton: WAS #26.25 Dhaka Chargers vs Bengal Cavalry The enigma that is DC is up against a fighting Cavalry side. DC's Galacticos missed the limousine to the ground starting with just 8 players on the field, a timely reminder that cricket games are not won on paper and rather require hard work, discipline and determination all of which the Cavalry are never short of. The wake up call (no pun intended for the morning game) may have already striked and if there were rockets flying in the dressing room then expect a shaken DC to come back roaring. Otherwise Cavalry will be all over them tomorrow! Prediction: DC's superstars might be out of charge specially with plenty now playing long Saturday cricket, they probably still have just enough battery left to overcome a tough game tomorrow. #26.26 SBT vs VT The SBTians had a slow but good start to the competition so far. VT on the other hand had an amazing performance in the first round, but weather disruptions, bye weeks and injuries have just broken some vital momentum. They will need to start all over again, and SBT will not make life any easier. Prediction: SBT #26.27 WAS vs Royals Ah WAS again, playing two games in a row to show off their sheer athletic abilities. It will be one game too many I feel as this Royals team packs some serious punch. They tasted the sweet flavour of winning cricket games and eyes will be on Abdul Majid as he will want to bring the vengeance to Sayem Sultan in particular for that bone crushing dismissal. Prediction: Royals

10.01.2022 RIYAD XI vs SOBUJ XI BANGLADESHI COMMUNITY CRICKET EXHIBITION MATCH 25 OVERS LIVE BROADCASTED BY MATCHDAY MEDIA

09.01.2022 #SUMMERS_GREATEST_BATTLE #INTERN_STIG_PREDICTIONS #26.7 Randwick Raiders vs Chittagong Thunder ... A dominant PIFI and even more dominant Asif Hasan Anik nearly blew the Thunder away. Lucky that rain saved them in round 1 from defeat. This time they are playing the defending champions and expecting another tough test. Prediction: RR #26.8 SBT vs VT CC I would rate this as the game of the week. SBT fought back well against a star studded DC but the VT were the team of the week last week and they are in some great form with the bat specially. Prediction: VT #26.9 Chittagong Royals vs OzNSUers A tough week 1 for both teams. OZNUers will want to put their misery from last week behind them. The Royals on the other hand will look towards building a foundation and may sense this as a possible win. Prediction: Chittagong Royals #26.10 PIFI vs BD Vipers Surprise package Vipers performed admirably last week specially Asif Mahub who has been training very hard with Shield and VT. Will it be enough for the Vipers against tournament favorites PIFI? Prediction: PIFI #26.11 Ekattor vs Shield Well well well.. this could be an interesting game. Ekattor has a very strange record with Shield, my research has shown that they were once bowled out for less than 30 against Shield! It might happen again, you never know Prediction: Shield #26.12 Cavalry vs Chargers Losing one of your best players can sometimes open up new doors and the Cavalry showed this last week despite ending the game in defeat they had many positives to take. It was quite the opposite story for the Chargers who packed their lineup with stars but couldn't quite find the right balance or capitalize and score big. Prediction: Cavalry

05.01.2022 #SUMMERS_GREATEST_BATTLE Matchday Media #PRESS_REPORT 26.3 Sydney Shield vs Bengal Cavalry... Lavish spenders Sydney Shield came up against the Plate Champions from last year Bengal Cavalry. The two young skippers Arup and Akther made their way to the middle for the toss, Shield called correct and Arup had no hesitation to send the Cavalry in on an overcast morning. A couple of back to back maidens from Shields opening bowlers brought about pressure on the run rate and inroads were made the first 3 wickets down with just 48 on the board and 7 overs in the drain. Thats when Nagib Shah and his skipper Akther stepped up to the plate. Wishing he had the day off to spend with his kids, Nags rode his luck and displayed maturity in the middle to steer the ship, his well constructed half century left the Shields top line spinners wicketless for long periods with Asif Adnan and Riyad Hossain unable to find a breakthrough. Thats when the Shield showed their ability in the field and some strange calls between the wickets left Bengal Cavalry stranded on 150 with no less than 5 run outs in the innings! Needing 6 an over was meant to be an easy task and the Shield top order was up to the cause. Riyad and Arup gave a good start while Mafid stepped in at 3 and played a composed knock. The scorecard was 120/2, the Shield were cruising with just 31 needed form the last 5 overs and 8 big wickets in hands. But wait! Thats when the never say die Cavalry held their temperament and clawed back miraculously into the game. Akther and Salman the spin duo were on song.. Saifi was clean bowled, the set Mafid was sent back to the shed, Asif Adnan was adjudged lbw, Sifar departed trying one shot too many and all of a sudden it was down to needing 6 from the last over. Akther with ball in hand was about to give Cavalry a miracle of a win, but Shishir K Das had other plans. Needing 4 from 2 balls, the Shield keeper batsman displayed his calmness and finishing skills running 2 doubles to give Shield the 2 points in an epic last ball finish. #MANOFTHEMATCH - Mafid Islam

03.01.2022 Afternoon Games Underway! Let’s hope the rain stays clear.. how about that for a lineup from the #Chargers

02.01.2022 Dear Captains The following is an important announcement regarding tomorrow’s matches. In light of the increase in Covid cases and the recent press release by NSW Premier urging Greater Sydney population to stay at home for all non essential reasons the ABSCA committee has decided to cancel tomorrow’s games and rescheduled the fixtures to 03 January 2021 at the same timings and ground allocations. ... Please note that since this a reserve day, if there is any unavoidable circumstances preventing matches being played on 3 Jan, then points shall be shared for that round. This may not have been the best way to end the cricketing year, but it is one we have taken keeping everyone’s safety in mind. We wish everyone safe health and look forward to seeing everyone back in the new year! Best Regards ABSCA Committee

01.01.2022 #SUMMERS_GREATEST_BATTLE Matchday Media #PRESS_REPORT... 26.1 Venomous Troopz vs Chittagong Royals A cloudy and windy Steve Folkes greeted the two teams. Despite the rain and wet weather the day before, umpires completed their early morning pitch and ground assessment and proclaimed "Fit 2 Play" Frantic phone calls were made in the Snake pitt and reinforcements were on their way from the Gong just in time for the toss. Royals a newly formed team with past exposure as CCA were looking sharp in their new blue and orange kits and despite losing the toss would have been happy to have a bowl and make use of the swinging kookaburra! Initial jubilation at picking up a couple of early poles was soon vanished in despair. The tides changed for the Royals as quickly as the forecast did, the storm was brought in from the south in the form of recent ABSCA Player of the year and VT captain Nirzer Islam! The radar was all over the park and the only rain that could be seen was raining boundaries - 10 of them to be exact in a mind blowing 95 run unbeaten innings! Chasing 206 to win, the Royals knew it was always going to be an uphill battle. Despite the dry and quick Folkes outfield, the Royals never really got going. They batted out their 25 overs with the wickets being shared all around as the Royals packed their innings a 7 down for 95 with some positive runs being scored by Pushkin Rahman (28) #MANOFTHEMATCH - Nirzer Islam
