24.01.2022 This news article is shocking and sad. Mesothelioma is incurable, and an awful way to die. It shows that there is no safe level of asbestos exposure. One fibre alone can kill. Some people can be pretty blasé about asbestos - oh I have worked with it for years, never affected me or its just a load of hype for the government to introduce more unnecessary legislation to get money out of the little guy. My dad worked with the stuff, and he lived to be 90. All of these thi...ngs are actual quotes from clients of mine over the years, annoyed about the requirements and costs of asbestos legislative requirements for building owners and renovators. The thing is, asbestos doesnt discriminate. Some people can be exposed to fibres and it has little to no effect. Some people can only be exposed once and that exposure leads to asbestosis or worse. I once met a lovely man, who was suffering from asbestosis and had to have his wife tell me what he was saying as he was so breathless he couldnt get the words out. I have read a story about a woman who died in her 30s from fibres she breathed off her fathers work clothes as a child when he hugged her after he got home from construction work in the late 70s. No level of exposure to asbestos is safe. If your home or building was built prior to 1990, have the building material checked before stripping the wall the paint, or knocking holes in the walls for renovations. Be Smart. Scan Before You Start. Its better to be safe than sorry. http://www.news.com.au//n/6ea07aedf315e6ec67475dcaf3ca1b3d

14.01.2022 Did you know homeowners who manage residential investment properties can claim some tax deductions which may include the following for properties containing Asbestos. ATO Taxation Ruling (2020/2) Deductions for expenditure on environmental protection activities.... A webinar hosted by FAMANZ Did you know that in some cases asbestos testing and removal can now be claimed as a tax deduction? The Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency will be speaking at an upcoming webinar about this tax ruling, on the 27th August 2020. The webinar is being hosted by FAMANZ (Faculty of Asbestos Management Australia and New Zealand). In this webinar, presenters Matthew Caruso, Matthews Steer Accountants & Advisors and Stephanie Claydon, Assistant Director at the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency, will provide guidance on what you can and cannot claim under this tax ruling. In July 2020, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) finalised the taxation ruling TR 2020/2 for income tax: deductions for expenditure on environmental protection activities. It is applicable to homeowners who manage residential investment properties and includes tax deductions for: 1. testing where asbestos is suspected (even if asbestos is not found) 2. engaging a licenced asbestos removalist to remove and dispose of asbestos (including fences and sheds) 3. replacing removed materials (resulting in a minor degree of alteration and improvement). The widespread promotion of this taxation ruling is important to encourage the safe removal and disposal of asbestos from Australias homes, to prevent exposure to asbestos and eliminate asbestos-related diseases (ARDs). 14.01.2022 This is bloody CRAZY! They are literally playing with death, and if they saw how terrible and painful Mesothelioma is, or any asbestos related illness is for that matter, they wouldnt be laughing or doing what they are doing. Remember there is NO safe exposure to asbestos - one fibre can literally kill. Wittenoom has been removed from maps for a reason - the Blue Sky Mine is no place for tourists. https://www.9news.com.au//wittenoom-gorge-asbestos-mine-ab

14.01.2022 This is why Asbestos is in so many buildings, and so MUCH of it - back in the day it really was considered the "magic material" - strong, fire proof, readily available and cheap. The hands in this advert are holding PURE asbestos - as somebody working in this industry it both makes us laugh and cringe knowing the ramifications this deadly material poses. Just amazing to us today! But when people ask why it was used to extensively throughout buildings - this is why. It really was considered and marketed as the magic building material!
