25.01.2022 Happy Easter!! We will be closed from Friday 19th April until Tuesday 23rd April. The clinic will be open on Wednesday 24th April.... We will be closed on Thursday 25th April for Anzac Day. Regular hours will resume on Friday 26th April.
25.01.2022 **UPDATE on COVID-19** At this stage the clinic is operating as usual with some minor changes. We are endeavouring to keep the clinic a safe place for all practitioners and patients. - Please do not be alarmed if we ask questions about your recent travel and community activities. - If you are feeling unwell and especially experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath we would encourage you NOT to visit this clinic but to consult a medical pr...ofessional. - We are taking appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of all who visit the clinic. These may include: * Asking you to wash your hands before entering the treatment room * Using alcohol and bleach disinfectant of all surfaces especially the treatment table before and after each consultation * As we have always done, laundering gowns and towels with antibacterial and anti-viral additive * Ensuring practitioners observe hygienic practices which including proper hand washing and possibly wearing a face mask In light of the recent information put out by the Australian Government (https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea) we will be limiting the number of patients in the clinic at one time to less than 500. Mostly because our walls would explode if we had that many people in the clinic and not because of the coronavirus. To re-iterate, we are OPEN regular hours. Please call for an appointment. We are making every effort to make the clinic a safe place for all patients to seek Chiropractic & Remedial massage care.
25.01.2022 Just to update everybody, our phone lines have been restored. We can now receive your calls... and process credit card, Medicare and health fund transactions.
24.01.2022 Happy Australia Day!! We hope you are having a great day celebrating the diversity of this magnificent country! Everybody has a story to tell and even recently weve seen the nation pull together to support each other through terrible bush fires and floods. We will be closed tomorrow Monday 27th January for the public holiday and reopen as usual on Tuesday 28th January.
22.01.2022 Just for a bit of fun... we have put a bear in the shop window for the kids... But no touching and please maintain social distance! https://www.google.com.au/a/amp.abc.net.au/article/12085168
20.01.2022 A quick read for a Monday morning... 5 myths about Chiropractic care busted!
20.01.2022 Merry Christmas from Mel, Ping, Jessica and Dino! Wishing you and your family good health! We are thankful for all the kind gifts and are privileged to have been able to help and care for so many lovely people this year. We are open limited hours between Christmas and New Year. If you end up talking to the answering machine, we will call you back as soon as possible!
18.01.2022 Feeling a little sore after exercise? There is a difference between soreness and injury. What you may be suffering from is delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS)! After strenuous exercise, muscular fatigue occurs immediately however after 12-24 hours post exercise, DOMS begins to take place and can last for 5 days post exercise. DOMS is a normal process of healing and even athletes of the elite level experience DOMS. Treatments for DOMS include: thermal therapy, compression..., active therapy, physical therapy/acupuncture and also oral medication. Postural changes can result from the tightness in muscles due to DOMS and remedial massage has been found to be effective in reducing the effects of DOMS. If you feel like every workout is accompanied by this post injury soreness, feel free to give us a call to see how we can help come up with a way to minimise the ongoing effect. Dino our Remedial Massage Therapist is also available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays to help!
16.01.2022 **Coronavirus update** The Hon Greg Hunt: The Australian Minister for Health has today confirmed that all Allied Health businesses are encouraged to stay open for face to face services. We will be staying open as long as we feel that the clinic is a safe environment and there is minimal risk of spread here.... However we advise that if your visit is non-urgent then please continue to obey the Governments recommendations on social distancing. Otherwise we are here to help. We are open limited hours. Please call for an appointment.

06.01.2022 The squat is a movement performed by every day people not just avid gym goers. Did you know that walking down stairs is similar to doing a single legged squat? This video addresses the myth about whether the knees should go behind or past the toes via an evidence based approach. Jeff showed that a squatting with the knees behind the toes caused 10x more hip tension than an unrestricted squat. The unrestricted squat allows for better positioning of the torso and safer positio...ning of the hip and lower back. So if you feel any knee tension or soreness with something as simple as walking down the stairs, it could be a biomechanical issue. If you are experiencing any discomfort in your day with movement or training, feel free to pop in. We can get you back on track to healthier movement! 06.01.2022 Great article in the Globe about Chiropractic! To quote: Critics like to propagate an old narrative that the chiropractic profession is not evidence-based.... This criticism is antiquated, revealing potential bias, and lacks awareness of current clinical studies.
06.01.2022 May the 4th be with you! Haha... Yes we are still open and taking every covid precaution but we can still laugh a bit. Please dont hurt yourself trying these though...
06.01.2022 Hello everybody. Whilst not in the main shopping area but in the suburb of Eastwood which has a high Chinese population, I thought I would address the issues of the Novel-Corona virus. To date we have had no patients present who have had recent travel to China. We also are very careful to observe hygienic practice. I have copied some information from a post made by a Victorian doctor as I think its very clear and concise....Continue reading
05.01.2022 This is Chiropractic Australias response to the story aired last night on channel 7. We do not feel like there is more to say other than the Chiropractic profession is persecuted for the actions of individuals who have been reprimanded already by AHPRA. There is an obvious media bias and agenda in their articles about the profession. Our Chiropractors at Absolute Care Chiropractic & Sports Therapy do see patients of all ages from young to old. Our younger patients tend to present with musculoskeletal injuries sustained from sporting endeavors or playground fun. We cannot comment on treatment for other non-musculoskeletal conditions (we focus on musculoskeletal biomechanics and are not pediatric specialists) and recommend you consult your family general practitioner.
05.01.2022 The topic of the day seems to be the investigation into the Chiropractor who posted his treatment of a 2 month old baby on YouTube. We have patients asking our opinion on the matter so Ive decided to post the clinics stance on the matter: I do not know the reason why the mother brought their infant to the Chiropractor. But from what I can see, there is no reason for the Chiropractor to have done what he has. Techniques (if you can call it that) shown in the video in questio...n are not taught in the Masters of Chiropractic program at Macquarie University. I support the Chiropractic Board of Australias investigation into the matter but my criticism is that the media has used the actions of a non-typical individual to persecute a whole profession. This is not how we treat at Absolute Care Chiropractic & Sports therapy. We specialise in evidence based musculoskeletal care utilising objective measures. We aim to be safe and effective in practice without pedaling treatments for which there is no evidence of efficacy. I hope this answers your questions and concerns. Mel (owner, Sports Chiropractor)
04.01.2022 Our apologies to any patients who have been unable to contact us. Telstra is an absolute disgrace and informs us that our phone line and internet outage will be fixed in a week. We are not able to process hicaps payments at this time. We are still able to manually accept credit card and cash payments at this time. Apologies for the inconvenience. The phones are now diverted to mobile so we can now receive your calls.
04.01.2022 Happy World Spine Day!!! The theme this year is Get Spine Active. Come and have a chat to us about how we can help keep your spine moving and for advice on workplace posture and exercises you can do at work. Make sure you take regular micro breaks and just keep moving!
04.01.2022 Happy New Year!! Have you have tried to book an appointment with Mel and she hasnt been available?... Please dont think shes being lazy... Mel has been busy trying to complete a research degree and her thesis is on the subject of using electroencephalograph (EEG) to diagnose sports concussion (we have posted some fun pics below)...... So we would like to apologise because Mel will be unavailable for afternoon appointments for January and February whilst completing her uni study. Jessica and Dino will be available as usual to help you with any issues.
03.01.2022 **Covid update** Yes for now we are still open. However, we would like you to consider your reasons for visiting the clinic. Please visit only if by not receiving treatment you believe your health would be affected in a way that you would need to visit a doctor or hospital.... Please consider if we could help you via teleconsult which is available. Chiropractic is still considered an essential service and is governed by AHPRA. Remedial massage is not available at this clinic as it is not considered an essential service. Please call for an appointment so that we can brief you on the social distancing and covid screening measures we have adopted. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are here to help without putting anybody at risk.

02.01.2022 Another day, another saga. The diversion in place is again not working thanks to Telstras incompetence. You can reach the clinic by calling 0432128680.
01.01.2022 Just thinking about changing our no cash kept on premises sign to read no toilet paper kept on premises... Just joking... #fridayarvolaughs
