23.01.2022 As expected, no change in the cash rate today.

21.01.2022 RBA Meeting today, no change in cash rate as expected. Interesting to note though that some banks are now deciding to hand on some of the emergency reduction from a couple weeks ago to their variable rates. I think that with Fixed Rates so low in the 1-3 years range (low 2%pa's) that we will see some flow through to variable rates over coming weeks/months

21.01.2022 RBA has today dropped the official cash rate by a further 0.25%pa to 0.50%pa. Pressure will be on ALL lenders to now pass on as much as they can. Possibility now if Corona Virus worsens that we could see a cash rate of Zero in a few months. Interesting times ahead.

19.01.2022 RBA leaves rates on hold for another month, however leaves options open for further cuts.

18.01.2022 RBA has made an further emergency cut in rates by 0.25%pa. Never thought I would ever say this but I think we would rather see rates increase not decrease at the moment if we could have better economic conditions. Expect ALL lenders to pass it on in full.

12.01.2022 No change to cash rate this month, but many still predicting two further cuts in the next 6 months.

09.01.2022 RBA has as predicted dropped the cash rate again by 0.25%pa to a record low 1%pa. Many economists no predicting that we could see as many as 2-3 more drops over the next 6 months, which is hard to think of. It is expected that whilst most banks will pass on a reduction, it may now be the full 0.25%pa this month.....I guess we wait and see.

07.01.2022 No change to cash rate today as expected, cuts are still on the cards for early next year though.

04.01.2022 No change in RBA Cash rate this month......I guess we couldn't expect 3 months in a row. Most experts still predicting 2 more drops by early next year.

03.01.2022 INTEREST RATE UPDATE: Not even 24 hours since RBA decision handed down and I am aware of the following lenders all decreasing their variable rates by 0.25%pa: CBA, ANZ, NAB, Westpac (you would expect St George/Bank of Melbourne/Bank SA as well), Macquarie, Suncorp and there are maybe more...... You would widely expect all will follow. Experts tip that a further cut will be coming in April.

02.01.2022 RBA has today dropped the official cash rate by a further 0.25%pa to a rate of just 0.75%pa (not much lower they can go now). It will be very interesting to see how much is handed on by lenders, it may be difficult to give a full 0.25%pa decrease as there is no return currently on deposits. Further decreases are still expected.

01.01.2022 RESERVE BANK EMERGENCY MEETING 19/3/2020: The RBA yesterday made the decision to further reduce the official cash rate by 0.25%pa to a rate of 0.25%pa. In a move that I can't quite understand most lenders are choosing not to pass on this reduction to their Variable Rate Home Loans (ANZ have by 0.15%pa as I type), but have come out with some very good Fixed Rate Loan offers in the 2.3 - 2.4%pa ranges for a variance of terms.... If you wish to consider locking in some/all of your loan (or maybe refinancing), it is certainly a good time to consider same, so feel free to give me a call.
