07.01.2022 Have you ever tried intuitive eating? At the start of each year, we often set goals to lose some of our holiday season weight! Intuitive eating is essentially the opposite of dieting, a method created by two dietitians in 1995 based on their experience with clients for weight management and maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. ... We are all born as intuitive eaters, but as we grow older and rules and restrictions are set around food, we lose freedom and connection with our bodies, and often start eating more or less than necessary due to social rules, judgements or unresolved emotions. Intuitive eating centres on re-learning how to eat outside of any diet, listening to your body for feelings of hunger, fullness and satisfaction, and moving away from rules and restrictions. By following an intuitive diet you are simply allowing yourself to connect with your body and let it tell you what you really need, instead of what you think you should be eating. In the popular book ‘Intuitive Eating’, authors Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch list these 10 principles to achieve a new and trusting relationship with food: Reject the diet mentally Honour your hunger Make peace with food Challenge the food police Respect your fullness Discover the satisfaction factor Honour your feelings without using food Respect your body Exercise - feel the difference Honour your gut - gentle nutrition. Do you normally follow a set diet or have you always eaten intuitively, in tune with your body’s needs? #intuitiveeating #mindfuleating #nutrition #emotionaleating #healthy #wellness #bodylove #health #eatingdisorderrecovery #bodypositive #overeating #nourishment #foodpsychology #naturalweightloss #nourishingwisdom #eatingpsychology #bodywisdom #healthcoaching #consciouseating #nutritionalwisdom #disorderedeating See more
