21.01.2022 PSA: There will be a small price increase on some of our products and will be reflected from mid-July. I've been holding off doing this for several years, in fact, our pricing has barely changed since I've taken ownership of Absolute Tea. Majority of our teas are well below the pricing of our competitors and I would still like to be able to provide our quality teas at affordable prices. ... As you may have noticed, increases are happening across the country and now due to COVID-19, it's just unfortunately something we simply cannot put off any further with further large increases on all costs. So, now is the perfect opportunity to stock up on your favourite teas or those that you may want to try especially while 30% off! Use EOFY at checkout

19.01.2022 Did you know that the time you leave tea leaf to infuse and the temperature of your water are some of the most important factors in creating the perfect cup of tea? Due to the way that tea is processed, different types require different preparations as detailed below. However, the slides are a great quick reference point! Black tea should be infused with boiling water, that of 100C and be left to steep for differing amounts of time depending on delicacy of the leaf, strength ...and flavour. Typically, a black tea would be left to infuse for 3 - 5 minutes. Green tea is more delicate than black tea and requires water of 80C. You don't need a kettle with varying temperature controls, you can instead boil the water and leave it to sit for roughly 5 minutes before pouring. For the best result, steep the leaf for 2 minutes. White tea is best steeped at 85C and left to infuse for around 2 minutes. Don't over-steep white teas so as to maintain their delicate flavours. Oolong tea should be infused at 90C (or boiled water that has been left to cool for around 2 minutes) and steep for 2-3 minutes. Rooibos blends should be infused in boiling water (100C) for as long as you like as they do not tend to bitterness. As a guide though, I would steep for roughly 5. Herbal/Fruit Infusions are infused with boiling water, that of 100C. As these blends do not contain tea leaf you can leave them to steep for as little or as long as you like. They will not go bitter, but rather the flavour will develop more the longer it is left. As a guide though, I would steep for between 5 and 7 minutes. *Additionally, when brewing black, green white and oolong teas, it is best to add more leaf for a stronger cup as opposed to leaving the leaf to infuse for a longer time. This will help to prevent bitterness and a strong tannin-like flavour. Some teas don’t follow these rules but they’re a great starting point for improving your tea time

These are double wall glass bottles with a removable stainless steel infuser and bamboo look screw top lid. 08.01.2022 Let's talk safety for a moment! It's #nationalburnsawarenessmonth and I don't think this could have come at a better time, to be honest. I know, you're thinking "boiling water is hot, we get it". But here's a reminder that accidents happen and it's important that we know how to treat a burn in the event of one occurring. ... Last weekend, I sighed relief as I finally found 5 minutes to sit in peace and enjoy a cup (well, mug) of tea when I somehow spilled the entire contents across my arm and down my leg. Boiling hot, black tea. Thank goodness that I have an electrician as a partner with a burns kit sitting in his work car. Electrical burns are a completely different piece of the pie but require the same initial first aid. I am thankful that the burn is healing and it is just a surface injury with no permanent damage or scarring. I am also so thankful that my 5 minutes came with my daughter's nap time.

05.01.2022 ~ The Tea Legend ~ The history of tea dates back to ancient China, around 5000 years ago and the story goes... In 2732 BC, Emperor Shen Nung discovered tea when leaves fell into his pot of water boiling on the fire. He was immediately interested in the scent these leaves gave to the water and drank some. Legend says the Emperor described a warm feeling as he drank the intriguing brew, as if the liquid was investigating every part of his body. He then named the drink "ch'a",... the Chinese character which means to check or investigate. In 200BC, a Han Dynasty Emperor ruled that a special character be used when referring to tea because of the way tea brought humankind into balance with nature for the Chinese culture. Check out this TED-Ed video which provides a more in depth story.

01.01.2022 Let's talk tea! Purists would stick their nose in the air if they heard you refer to your pot of Chamomile as "tea" because it is in fact not! All tea comes from one plant and one plant alone - Camellia sinensis. There are two varieties - Camellia sinensis sinensis traditionally grown in China and Camellia sinensis assamica traditionally grown in India. It is a tree. And if left to do its own thing, could grow as tall as NINE metres! Woah! However, most tea farmers maintain... the plants to around one metre in height due to ongoing harvesting. Environmental factors play a large role in the way a harvest plays out including tea quality, taste and yield. The exciting thing though is that all our types of teas - black, green, white, oolong and yellow - are a result of the way the tea plant is processed. I'll spend some time sharing some more tea talk about the different types of tea over the next weeks. credit: @unsplash

01.01.2022 If it were your choice, would you rather us bring back the 50g bag option OR introduce sample sizes of our blends? Our 50g size brews roughly 20 cups of tea and our sample sizes will brew roughly 5 cups.
