25.01.2022 While the World continues to battle the Pandemic we are forced into isolation, social distancing, excessive hand washing and working from home. We have time, we have long days with not much to do. Those without family close by are lonely, the elderly without social media, Internet etc are anxious, not knowing what the future holds for them ... we all have our thoughts of what might be as we continue on through our days. My thoughts are with the writers, the undiscovered au...thors who are halfway through a story that they commenced years ago (one of them being me). The time is now. We have the time to turn our isolation days into days of creativity, using our insights to write something spectacular! We have been given this 'gift' of time. Nostradamus and other prophets and seers from centuries ago predicted this event and it has come to pass. Pick yourself up, write that book, paint that painting, take that online course you've been contemplating for months. We are all in this together ... See more

17.01.2022 Proofreading and Editing Update ... This year has had it's ups and downs which you are very aware of. I've spoken to people who have been laid off, not knowing if they will ever return to their workplace. Others who have sought alternatives like starting up a Handyman business, or going back to a skill they had many years ago like carpentry, mechanic, plumber etc. These people moved on some years ago and decided there were other things they wanted to try. Then COVID-19 ha...ppened and they now find themselves having turned back the clock and making a living doing something they thought they would never return to. The newspapers are still being printed, new books are filling the bookshelves, not to mention the online shopping available where almost every book ever written can be purchased and sent to your home. I wonder how many of you out there with time to fill and feeling lost and alone have thought about writing. Your life story, a crime thriller, drama or non-fiction. It's certainly prompted me to finish the stories I started some years ago and haven't had the motivation to finish. It not only fills in the empty hours - it also can be therapeutic. Looking back on your life, and once you start writing, it's amazing how many memories spring up through the murk and then you're away. Something to think about ... Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in your life See more

I've taken the opportunity to make a gigantic ef...fort to finish a novel I started five years ago and then procrastinated until COVID happened and prompted me to take charge and get motivated. 01.01.2022 THE DEFINITION OF A PROOFREADER Today I decided to look up the actual definition of a proof reader - interesting reading ... here is what Wikipedia says ... Proofreading is the reading of a galley proof or an electronic copy of a publication to detect and correct production errors of text or art.[1] Proofreaders are expected to be consistently accurate by default because they occupy the last stage of typographic production before publication.... To read the entire (lengthy) description, go to : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proofreading So, for those authors, would-be writers and amateurs who are passionate about their work and are keen to have it published, whether in hard copy or an eBook or anything else that is available, employing a proofreader is essential. Of paramount importance is correctness - grammar, punctuation, plausibility and the elimination of 'unnecessary' words. Formatting is another key to ensuring your writing is set out in a clear and clean manner, and above all, is easy to read. Wishing you all the best with your next 'best selling' novel!
