17.01.2022 Hey! Thought I'd share... each night at the Portrait Conference we had open studio with live models and we could draw with pencil or charcoal. Some of my playing.... and quick demo to students upon return. It was so freeing for me and so much fun. Happy Days!

10.01.2022 Something interesting for us all... Is the only way for you to draw portraits proficiently to copy from photo's? Here’s another question you have to ask yourself: What is your goal in art? To be able to draw whatever you see, think, or imagine? Or be a human photocopier?... When you talk, do you always say what has already been written by someone else? Or do you actually say what you think, using your own words? Why do you think it is any different in drawing? Copying other peoples photos is like repeating only what has been said by someone else. Learning how to draw portraits without photos requires three things: 1. Stop copying other people's photos 2. Learn the fundamental drawing principles, and the human head anatomy and proportions 3.Use this knowledge to make your own original artworks, drawing from life, memory or imagination

03.01.2022 I am so sorry that it has been so long since my last post... but I am afraid the reno's have turned into a marathon!! But I would like to thank very much for the help and new studio that will soon be! Thank you to the boys from Impact, Roger, Neil, Rod, Paul, Rhonda and all ya other's for cheering us on... Another couple of weeks it will be tip top!!!! Great entertainment for G'ma! And I don't know how but during the last couple of months, with everything packed in the other... rooms and taking so long to find anything i need... I have achieved semi-finals of Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Bendigo Art Society 25th Celebrations, Girls Annual Reunion in Lorne, Retro weekend at Deni, just hung first solo exhibition at Cortille Cafe (Check it out) as well as regular weekly class schedule. Sometimes I amaze myself, ha, ha. I am ready for that rocking chair on the veranda!! See more

03.01.2022 The benefits of painting... "People who immerse themselves several hours painting or creating something enter a purer area, in a very strong state of concentration; they abstract themselves from their surroundings and time passes by without noticing it. Physical pains fade away; it is almost like entering another dimension. We can spend hours without feeling tiredness, pain or other conditions (unlike other activities.) This is a state similar to that achieved through praying, meditation, music, aromatherapy, and being in love. There have been cases of miraculous temporary healing in painters, artisans & musicians who, when in this state, are able to move their atrophied hands or don´t feel pain when creating or executing. 01.01.2022 Well yes, Welcome to 2020, a new year and a new decade and a whole new world we live in now. Who would have thought it would bring so many changes for us all.. but I am grateful and I am not going to panic! Not seeing people... not sure how I will go with that! But just want to thank everyone for their amazing help and support in getting our new classroom studio up and running... now i know it is extremely disappointing and quite emotional to leave so soon but we will be back...!!!! and when we are back we will bring new inspiration, new ideas and new creations. It has been great progress at the Historic Bendigo Pottery over the last seven years but we have been promoted again. Yay! We have moved into a lovely old building on the site of Fusion Bendigo (an International organization working with youth) in Raglan Street, White Hills. Thanks so much to students, friends and supporters who helped with packing for the move, preparing the building and making the move. We have many things to look forward to in the future with regular classes and also a range of ‘one of’ classes, workshops and interesting activities bringing you new programs and more in-depth articles, which will be held during the week or weekends. Our space is much larger and more equipped to conduct a whole range of new things. We are looking forward to this exciting program that will revitalise Academy Bendigo after seven years together. Thanks so much and we will soon be back to a year of sharing your passion, creating and developing together.
