25.01.2022 Another good session with Janice Murphy this morning. She's already smashing it with her pull-ups, but we made a few adjustments to her form which should help increase strength in the position. We spent some time working on the bench press and overhead press too before she joined in the morning circuit class



25.01.2022 Another busy morning coaching. I love running circuit classes and coming up with interesting and fun ways to push people and get them breathing hard, but with one to one coaching it's great to have the time to really get into details and dial in technique perfectly. You can learn a lot in an hour!

24.01.2022 Great first session with Janice Murphy this morning. Janice was the winner of my free personal training contest and we spent the session going over technique in the squat and the deadlift, making a few adjustments that should allow us to lift safely and efficiently moving forward. We're off to a fantastic start!

22.01.2022 I'll be taking the conditioning classes at D Unit this Wednesday at 10am and Saturday at 10.15am. As always there will be an emphasis on strength building towards some hard conditioning at the end. I'll also be running a few catchup sessions after the classes for my clients who need to get their weekly challenges done, so be there at 11am on Wednesday and/or 11.15am Saturday to catch up on any challenges you owe and get involved with the team!



21.01.2022 New toy to play with! I got a Cerberus strength bag and filled it with around 60 to 65 kg of sand. Had a day off from coaching today so had a play about with this after my deadlifts and it totally kicked my ass! If anyone wants to try it out let me know, it's a fun challenge.

16.01.2022 Did something a little different today and trained with the aerial acrobats at Spinal Chord in Glasgow. Calisthenics, hand balancing and movement have always been a big part of my training so it was really great to train with experts in acrobatics. Definitely came away with some great ideas and I'll be back training with them again for sure!

15.01.2022 New kit! I recently bought 2 new sandbags from Cerberus strength (bringing my sandbag total up to 3) and a macebell from Wolverson fitness. I've been putting them through their paces in my own training, adding a lot of sandbag carries and mace swinging into the regular weightlifting schedule. They're definitely going to be a great addition to the training repertoire and I can't wait to teach people how to use them!

08.01.2022 Great session with Conor Haining this morning. Conor is new to barbell lifts so we've been dialling in his technique. We're now comfortably working with a straight bar for deadlifts, the progress we've made in only a few session has been fantastic. Keeping it simple with squats, deadlifts, pullups, bench press the some loaded carries and stability work at the end

04.01.2022 Another great day of coaching ahead. Testing squat 1 rep max this morning then coaching olympic lifting this afternoon, but first I'm getting my own workout in. It's heavy week with overhead press and weighted pull-ups then on to the rower because I hate it which means I should probably do more of it

02.01.2022 Fantastic olympic weightlifting session with Peter Henderson yesterday. The olympic lifts are pretty much the most technical thing you can do with a barbell and Peter has been training elsewhere for the past 7 months, but wanted some specific coaching to tighten up his technique. We made some great progress and we're seeing improvements after only 1 session! Looking forward to getting him back in and continuing

01.01.2022 Not my usual type of training, but I decided to take on the D Unit Metcon Slayer challenge yesterday. It was a grinder, but got through it in 6:38. Those deadlifts at the end felt like a lot more than 100 kg and my glutes are feeling it this morning!

01.01.2022 Something I take really seriously is tracking progress. We should be able to look at your results and know if what we're doing is working. The more data we have the better informed our decision will be. For people looking to lose fat or gain muscle I like to track weight, body measurements, adherence to the training programme (I don't expect you to do every training session with me), adherence to nutrition advice, quality of sleep and if you've been under any stress. We set g...oals, make a plan, follow through on that plan and then assess the outcome. From there we can make adjustments and ensure we don't plateau. I decided to share my tracking sheet here in case it's of benefit to anyone. Put your name, daily calories and macros at the top and fill it in once a week to keep an accurate track of your progress. If you're not measuring you're just guessing! See more
