In the coming weeks, the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet remembers and appreciates the valuable contribution of the many international guest artists and all who have participated in ACB international ballet galas and full length ballet productions over the last two decades performing at the Arts Centre Melbourne. ACB performances have given its ballet students, many of whom are now dancing with ballet companies worldwide, the amazing opportunity to work with and l...earn from these world renowned guest artists from international ballet companies including The Royal Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Kirov Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, The Australian Ballet and many others. These opportunities for the students and our followers has been interrupted during the pandemic. We will return stronger and will present our popular Christmas ballet presentation of The Nutcracker with our orchestra and international guest artists in December 2021 at the Arts Centre, Melbourne. Here was a Melbourne ballet school on an admirable pedagogic mission: to expose its students and local audiences to diverse examples of international excellence. 13.01.2022 We congratulate Charlotte Cohen on her successful audition for the world renowned ballet competition Prix de Lausanne! Charlotte came to the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet (now Melbourne Conservatoire of Ballet) at the age of nine showing exceptional potential. Through the guidance of Christine Walsh and Valmai Roberts, she showed an eagerness to learn and an exceptional ability and determination to apply the training given, resulting in steady and consistent development.... When we all thought one of the world’s hardest and longest lockdowns in Victoria would stop many dance students from progressing, Charlotte continued to work diligently in her family’s lounge room in online classes and private lessons with tenacity and pure hard work. When the lockdown was lifted Charlotte only had two days in the ballet studio before the deadline to film the Prix de Lausanne audition video . To our amazement, Charlotte tackled the audition filming with confidence and assurance. Charlotte has shown herself to be a wonderful example proving to all that it is certainly possible to continue earnest training and achieve your goals even if you are not able to be in a dance studio for many months during a lockdown. We are so proud of Charlotte and wish her all the very best for her continued training and the Prix de Lausanne competition in January 2021!
