25.01.2022 Its assumed that victims of online child sexual abuse and exploitation are typically targeted by strangers. This is not always the case. Offenders can be someone known to a child or young person, for example, someone they work with, family friend or relative. Its important we talk to children and young people about recognising inappropriate behaviour online and speaking to a trusted adult if something isnt right.... 22.01.2022 Sharing child abuse material online regardless of your intentions is a crime. Behind every picture and video is a child who is being abused. If you repost or share this material you are committing a crime and perpetuating the cycle of abuse. We urge the Australian community not to share this material. Report it instead. If you see child abuse material online, report to www.eSafety.gov.au/report who can help get it removed.... If a child is being contacted or groomed by a potential offender, make a report at www.accce.gov.au/report. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000) or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 to report in confidence.

The man is expected to face court where the police will allege the man believed he had been speaking online to a 14-year-old girl since July, but it was actually a covert police officer posing as a child. Australian Federal Police Detec...tive Acting Superintendent Gavin Stone said the conversations allegedly became sexual in nature and the 19-year-old kept requesting to meet in person. He allegedly asked the girl to wear a short skirt and no underwear. In February 2020, the Australian Federal Police-led ACCCE received a report from the United States' National Center for Missing & Exploited Children about an Australian allegedly uploading child abuse material to social media. The ACCCE identified the 19-year-old Adelaide man as the person uploading the abhorrent image. Full story: https://www.accce.gov.au/news-and-me/releases//29Aug-SAman

11.01.2022 The assessment and evaluation of referrals relating to online child abuse and exploitation is critical in determining suitable interventions to save children from harm and to prosecute perpetrators The Australian Federal Police-led ACCCE CPTU plays an integral role in #ChildProtection in Australia triaging reports of online child exploitation to ensure the ongoing protection of our children. They are a conduit between the AFP, Joint Anti Child Exploitation Teams (JACET...), State and Territory police, and international partners. They receive reports of online child sexual exploitation from a range of sources, including members of the public and important partners such as Australian Border Force, Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Office of the eSafety Commissioner, State and Territory police and CyberTip reports via our international partners National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The reports and related material are assessed and triaged to determine the most appropriate course of action, including if there is enough information to establish an offence has occurred. This may include the requirement for further intelligence input, referral for victim identification, or investigative packages developed to send to the AFP, JACETs, or State and Territory police for further investigation or other appropriate action.
