25.01.2022 [ FESTIVE EATING ] Over the last two weeks, as we settle into life with two children, we have been blessed with some wonderful meals bought and cooked for us by our friends and family. .... I the hospital we had deliveries of some fantastic Chinese and Sushi and since we’ve been home, Pumpkin Soup, Vegetarian Cannelloni and Spicy Lentil Curry... . And this... A Penis Pie. 16.01.2022 [ #acceleratefamily ] We don’t have a crèche! By choice and by design.... . At what age should we start showing kids that their health is important? Why would we discourage kids from exercising by locking them in room in front of a tv? At what point should we educate kids to understand that training can be enjoyable when it is often used as a form of punishment? . We supervise our kids and let them explore. There’s very little they aren’t allowed to do in our gym! It’s very rare that we need to restrict their movement and if we do it’s only for their safety and they’re always given free reign at the end of the session. . Participation rates in junior sport are as low as ever. Obesity is as prevalent as ever. Lifestyle Diseases are as treatable and preventable as ever. . We understand it’s not always appropriate or ideal or convenient... If you need a crèche, go to town. If you don’t want a crèche, come to us!

15.01.2022 [ DIRECT ABDOMINAL TRAINING ] Indirect Abdominal Training has its place. The benefits you can receive from movements like Goblet Squats, Deadlifts and Tall Kneeling Shoulder Presses should not be underestimated, for both Aesthetic Goals and Athletic Performance.... . That said, Direct Abdominal Training has to be included if you're going to reach your full potential. . Goblet Squats , Deadlifts and Tall Kneeling anything help but they cannot replace the effective use of Direct movements like Oblique Holds (pictured), Pallof Presses and Deadbugs, for example. . The days of doing hundreds of Sit Ups or holding Planks so long that your belly button touches the floor are over. . The bigger picture that is Abdominal/Core Training is so much clearer now.

08.01.2022 [ ALLIED HEALTH LEAD INJURY REHABILITATION ] Terri Daines had a Knee Reconstruction late last year. .... During "Lockdown" we got her jogging againt for the first time...two months ahead of schedule. . Terri continued to train in the lead up to her surgery, getting stronger and stronger right up to her last training session the day before her procedure. As a result, her recovery has been significantly faster and easier. How do we know, for sure? We don't...but it's been a shit load easier and faster than her last reconstruction recovery from before she joined Accelerate Health & Performance so we're pretty confident. . Nobody looks at you and sees a number. Why? Nobody knows what the number on the scales says unless you tell them. Why? Because doing all the stuff you want to do easier is more important than that number. . Why? Because how you feel is more important and feeling stronger and more capable feels a whole lot better than you realise!

03.01.2022 [ TONING ] It’s a bullshit, arbitrary term that really should die. .... Why? . The toned look that you might be seeking is an optimal level of body fat and muscle mass based on your personal opinion. . This is not something that can be measured by anything other than you saying to yourself I look fucking fantastic! . If you have too much body fat and too little muscle mass you have no tone. If you have too much body fat and enough muscle mass you still have no tone. If you have little enough body fat and too little muscle mass you also have no tone. . But the thing that actually defines what is too little, enough or too much body fat or muscle mass is YOU. Your taste, your opinion, your goals. . Look at this photo and the difference in definition between the two... . Most people say they want to tone up but mean they need to lose body fat... . What did we have to change to create this change? . We didn’t reduce her body fat. . We INCREASED her muscle mass! . Get clear about what you need to do to achieve your goals! . Do you want to drop body fat? Do you want to gain muscle mass? Do you want to do both? . Be clear with the results you want and be deliberate and specific with the actions you take to get them.

02.01.2022 [ FOOD PREP ] The easiest way to Food Prep is still to just cook larger meals when you make your food. Like...come on...it's 2021...why do we still have to explain this shit?... 02.01.2022 [ PRONE HOLD/PLANKS ] One of the biggest mistakes you can make when performing this exercise is to try and do it for too long. .... Working too far into fatigue and letting your technique slip is really dumb and really not beneficial. Work for shorter more precise, controlled set times with better technique.
