25.01.2022 Glad to help this customer quickly resolve the issue causing their digger to not start. The thermal imaging camera made short work of finding a diode that had internally shorted.

21.01.2022 When all the usual tricks aren't working, some thinking outside the box and using the tools at hand in a different way can be all thats needed to get a result. By putting a 100w load on the circuit i needed to trace, using my thermal camera i could see the wires under load as they run a couple of degrees warmer than ambient temp. This lead to finding a rub through short between the left and right indicator circuit in the overhead console. ... Video in the comments Bosch Australia GTC 400 C is one tool i cant live without!

I found the fault being a bad connection in the alternator sense wire, causing the alternator to increase it’s regulated output to try and maintain 14v at the sense terminal. 02.01.2022 Today I finally got to put my new oscilloscope to use. Diagnosing an abnormal update rate fault code on a Cat machine, finding that the J1939 CAN wires were around the wrong way at one module. In the pics you can see the blue and yellow wave forms swapping polarity as some points. And the last image is a good wave form reference after the fault was repaired.
