24.01.2022 Some welcome news in South Australia for subclass 457 visa holders impacted by recent legislative changes! South Australian Government is accepting nominations for 457 visa holders currently working (at least 12 months) in South Australia for a subclass 190 or 489 Skilled visa. Those who were no longer eligible for another 457 visa, or subclass 186 PR visa, may now have an alternative option.

23.01.2022 NEWS | Occupations on the Western Australia skilled migration list have been slashed from 178 to just 18. Bricklayers, electricians, refrigeration mechanics, teachers, cafe managers and psychologists are all off the list. The only occupations left are medical professionals, including GPs and some specialist doctors and nurses.

13.01.2022 The Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) will commence as of 12 August 2018. The SAF Levy will be payable on the new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) and Employer Nominated Permanent Residency (subclass 186 and 187) nomination applications. It will mean an additional $1,200-$1,800 per year of sponsorship on the new TSS Sponsorship and a one-off fee of $3,000-$5,000 for Employer Nominated Permanent Residency. Both will be payable in advance, at the time the nomination is lodged.

09.01.2022 Update: Proposed reforms to current 457 temporary work visa scheme These are some of the proposed reforms: - New visa called Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) which will come into effect from March 2018 - Two streams: short term of up to 2 years and medium term of up to 4 years - This visa is likely to replace the existing 457 visa and may possibly impact the subclass 186 PR visa... - Minimum work experience requirement - Tightened English language requirement - Tightened Character requirements - Tightened measures for employer's Training requirements - Mandatory Labour Market Testing - Lowering the maximum age threshold to 45 years - Tax file numbers and data matched with ATO records - Permanent Residency eligibility period extended from two to three years - Reduced occupation list eligible for nomination (this one will be implemented as of 19th April 2017) We will continue to keep you updated with any further news.
