23.01.2022 On a Segway- how terrific :) Albany Summit to Sea Adventure - Guided Segway Tour Tour Approx: 2 hrs The Albany Heritage Park stretches across Mount Clarence and Mount Adelaide, just north of downtown Albany. On this tour, zip between the park’s scenic viewpoints, WWII memorials, and hillside monuments on a Segway. Take in the views from the hilltops, pass sights such as the National Anzac Centre and the Avenue of Honour, then glide down to the seafront to explore Ellen Cove ...boardwalk and Middleton beach. Trip advisor review - 1 day ago. Excellent! Today we took the Summit to Sea Segway tour! Excellent to say the least!!! Tony was amazing, very friendly and informative! Gave us a crash course on how to work a Segway as we have never done it before . Money well spent definitely recommend ______________________________________________________________________ http://www.albanysegwaytours.com.au

14.01.2022 The Noisy Scrub-bird, believed extinct, was rediscovered in 1961. Bird Watching at Lake Seppings is close to Emu Point and Middleton Beach. Take a walk early in the morning before 10am and you will see plenty of birds. Retreat away from the bird hide as a walk around the lake is enjoyable in its own rite. :) Research captures below!... Photo 1: Lake Seppings. Photo 2: The Red-eared Firetail feeds on seeds in low undergrowth or on ground. Photo 3: The White breasted Robin like plucking ants off the ground. Photo 4: The Common Bronzewing is indeed common and renowned for its low booming ship’s foghorn call. The Twenty-eight Parrot is one of the Australian Ringneck 38cm races found in the south-west area. named for its call, Q: It was named the twenty-eight parrot for its (how many note) call. :)

07.01.2022 Guarding the Channel Before the Pantagenet Battery was built within the ocean side of Mount Adelaide stretching through the Mount Clarence Parklands down to King Point, the most important guardian of the Channel was the Lighthouse. Point King Lighthouse We recognise it as the light that kept Albany safe and thriving in its early days.... The ruins are located on the north shore entrance to Princess Royal Harbour and is the second lighthouse built on Western Australia’s coastline. Its history can be traced back to October 1856. The original dwelling comprised of four rooms divided as two on either side of a central passage. One of the rooms included a fireplace and a window looking the entry to the harbour. The largest room, also with a fireplace and two windows in the external walls, was probably the living room. The north-eastern room was a kitchen with a fireplace and oven in the southern wall and a window in the northern wall. The fourth room was smaller and most likely a store. Nothing survives of the original wooden light tower which stood in the centre of the southern wall overlooking entry to Princess Royal harbour. Despite its remote location the lighthouse had three resident keepers, some of whom brought up very large families in the tiny dwelling. The keepers were: Joseph Nelson 1857 - 1867; Samuel Mitchell 1867 - 1903 and John Reddin 1903 1911
