Sam surveyed Western Whipbirds (also known as White-bellied Whipbirds) as part of the Marna Banggara project, a landscape restoration project that aims to create a safe haven for some of Australia’s most threatened native species, reinvigorate iconic bushland and benefit the community, economy and agriculture on Yorke Peninsula. Over to Sam: I've had an absolutely fantastic time surveying Whipbirds in Warrenben Conservation Park and experiencing its range of habitats and wide biodiversity as spring gets underway. From seeing Whipbirds and Tiger Snakes, to getting to know the diverse vegetation in this park, spending a couple of weeks here has made me realise just how invaluable this part of South Australia is, and how vital it is that we continue monitoring and protecting the amazing species here. I'm beyond excited to see the next stages of Marna Banggara, and to return to the beautiful southern Yorke Peninsula as soon as possible! . . .
