11.01.2022 DINDI's FAVOURITE FISHING SPOTS At this stage it's only day trips and outdoor activities in groups of less than 10 which does mean we can now get back out ...to all the best fishing spots around the Murrindindi region and finally throw a line in. 1 Lake Eildon is one of Australia's most popular freshwater fishing destinations. There are plenty of fish to be caught with brown trout, rainbow trout, redfin, perch, Murray cod, roach, tench, and carp, just some of the species that can be caught around Lake Eildon 2 The Meeting of the Waters is well worth a look, the point at which the Steavenson and Acheron Rivers join. There's a small cascade and good fishing spots to try your luck and cast a line. Also plenty of opportunities to dip your toes 3 Goulburn River If you love fishing, the Goulburn River between Eildon and Thornton offers up the goods and with plenty of shady banks to choose from, it is popular with anglers of all levels. 4 Eildon Pondage Eildon Pondage is one of Victoria’s most popular destinations for trout fishers and is stocked regularly by the nearby Snobs Creek hatchery and large trout aren’t uncommon. There are numerous spots around the grassy banks to settle in for a day of angling. 5Big River, Enochs Point Big River flows in a steep, narrow, forested valley into Lake Eildon. Downstream of Enoch's Point, it becomes a large river (average width 10 m) with pools more than 100 cm deep and with a considerable number of snags present. It has excellent habitat for trout and provides good fishing. For those new to fishing, and even old hands at casting a line, the Buxton Trout & Salmon Farm is always a hit! From youngsters to retirees - it’s definitely fun for all ages. Please check out their website & Facebook page for the latest in restrictions and booking details. For more info visit: www.buxtontrout.com.au Hopefully if we all keep up the good behaviour then it won't be long before more outdoor options will be back on the menu. Don't forget your social distancing with your fishing mates and please respect measures put in place by our local businesses to help stop the spread. www.discoverdindi.com.au/fish-dindi
