24.01.2022 NSW and Victoria Covid-19 Disaster Payments https://www.expertaccountants.com.au//covid-19-disaster-p/

23.01.2022 The Government has introduced the Treasury Laws Amendment (COVID-19 Economic Response No. 2) Bill 2021 to make payments received by eligible businesses under certain COVID-19 business support programs from 1 July 2021 and Commonwealth COVID-19 disaster payments for the 2020-21 income year and later exempt from income tax, amongst other things. The ATO will provide updated advice when the proposed amendments become law.

18.01.2022 Did you know COVID-19 Disaster Payments are now tax free? If you received a payment from Services Australia due to the Greater Melbourne lockdowns last financial year and you haven’t lodged your 2020-21 tax return, you don’t need to include the payment when you lodge. If you’ve already lodged your 202021 return and included the payment, you should amend your return as you may be due a refund. For info to help you make an amendment and to find out more about declaring government payments in your tax return, see www.ato.gov.au//Government-grants-and-payments-during-COV/
