21.01.2022 "If you have a small business, you don't need an accountant!" Very often I come across this opinion, and I completely disagree with it This is confirmed by recent communication with several business owners. ... In the last week, we have signed engagement contracts with 3 business owners. Some of them just decided to start a business, others were already trading, but did not engage with an accountant. But all of them have the same questions and for us accountants, it’s like 2x2 but not knowing the answers to these questions is costing business owners money and excess taxes. Engaging an accountant in such cases would end up being cheaper % More than 100 entrepreneurs and businesses trust our agency. We value our reputation and work for the best results If you have any questions related to accounting and taxation You can always contact us: Message us in Direct @accountingindustries Leave a request on the website https://accountingindustries.com.au/ Call +61 2 9943 2444 Your personal accountant Svetlana Hammond

13.01.2022 Refund finalisation SMS by ATO. The ATO announced that they will soon start sending refund finalisation SMS messages. The SMS lets you know your tax return has been finalised by the ATO and when to expect a refund into your nominated bank account. You will only receive the SMS if your nominated bank account is your personal bank account.

13.01.2022 Greetings to everyone! Today we will discuss what you need to report to the ATO as a business owner. Tax return. There is no separate tax return that you have to file on top of your individual tax return as a sole trader. All of your business related information will be included in your Individual Tax Return. Previously, as an employee, you reported your salary under section INCOME and your expenses under section DEDUCTIONS. Now your tax return will be completed differently.... All your income and expenses related to your business have to be included in a section called BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL ITEMS This ATO link will help you to complete this schedule: https://www.ato.gov.au//Business-and-professional-items-/ This ATO link will help you to understand your income and deductions you can claim: https://www.ato.gov.au//Income-and-deductions-for-business/ Otherwise, you always can ask your accountant for help. If you are preparing and lodging your tax return yourself, you need to lodge it no later than 4 months after the end of the financial year (31st of October). If your accountant is doing it for you, then the due date will be 8.5 months after the end of the financial year (15th of May). BAS (Business Activity Statement). Depending on your registration you will lodge your BAS monthly, quarterly, or on an annual basis. Your BAS needs to include your total sales, GST reporting, Salary paid to your employees and PAYG Withheld on it (if you are paying salary), PAYG Instalments (your upfront income tax instalments), FBT (Fringe Benefit Tax, if you are providing certain benefits to your employees), other taxes, if registered (Luxury car tax (LCT), Wine equalisation tax (WET), Fuel tax credits) Please note as a sole trader, you can’t pay a salary to yourself. Instead, all net profit for the year will be your income. Continue in comments

11.01.2022 How easy it is to open a business with minimal costs The answer is to become a sole trader Here are some tips on what you need to do to become a business owner:... ABN (Australian Business Number). You can apply for ABN through the government website: https://www.abr.gov.au/business-super-funds-ch/applying-abn. This is free GST (Goods and Services Tax) registration. You must apply for GST if your annual income (before deductions) from the business exceeds $ 75,000. If your income is below $ 75,000, this registration is voluntary. PAYG Withholding. You will need to register for PAYGW if you have employees. You can do this at the same time as registering your ABN (you will be asked a question, if you want to do this at the end of your ABN registration) or later, when will you hire employees. If you have any questions related to accounting and taxation, you can always contact us: write to Direct @accountingindustries On our website https://accountingindustries.com.au/ Or call +61 2 9943 2444 Your personal accountant Svetlana Hammond
