10.01.2022 It was a very strong day yesterday at #accws19 with 50% of the wines judged scoring medals. This morning the judges have been busy assessing the Sauvignon Blanc classes along with Merlot, Shiraz Viognier and Australian Cabernet/Shiraz styles. Solid results are coming in for the Cabernet/Shiraz and Shiraz Viognier blends. Having cancelled the Public Events previously, we had hoped to continue with the very important judging week. Given the uncertainty and fluidity of the COVID-19 situation and the potential for further restrictions, it is no longer v...iable to host the judging week. The judges deemed that this class demonstrated "lovely diversity of styles" with the best wine in class showing "complexity, freshness, balance and judicious use of oak". 02.01.2022 *** Important Information about the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show in 2020 *** The team at the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show hopes that you and your families are all safe and well. During these difficult and challenging times, many families and businesses across the nation are doing it tough. The team at the ACCWS continue to actively review the medical and government advice on the COVID-19 situation and the potential impacts to our show. The public events of our Win...e Show are normally an important part of the show’s success. Clearly in the current circumstances, we have reviewed the potential health and safety impacts to the public events. After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with the Long Table Luncheon event for the 2020 Wine Show. We are however keeping an open mind in regards to the Public Tastings. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and as time gets closer to the wine show week, we will make a determination at that stage on whether to proceed with the Public Tastings. However, we do believe that we can still run the successful judging week component to the 2020 Show. We believe that running the show and awarding medals and trophies to exhibitor entries is one initiative that cool climate wine producers will be looking for in order to drive momentum to their wine sales, as consumers emerge from these challenging times. We warmly welcome all entries from cool climate wine regions right across Australia. Entries are open now and close on 1st August 2020. Our judging week commences on Monday 7th September 2020.
