25.01.2022 International student numbers for NSW As at 30 August 2020, there were 153,813 NSW student visa holders located inside Australia, and 53,009 NSW student visa holders located outside Australia. Currently, 34% of all international students in Australia are located in NSW.

We are pleased to announce new incentives that the University has introduced to support international students in their studies. The scholarship will be up to 20% and will be offered to international students affected by border restrictions. The scholarship is introduced to benefit students commencing their studies offshore of Australia in Trimester 1 and Semester 1 2021 i.e. those commencing programs at Newcastle who are unable to enter Australia due to border restrictions, with expectation that they will come on campus and pay full fees when borders open. 18.01.2022 Temporary Graduate visa available for the graduates who are stuck outside Australia due to travel restriction! Australian graduates who are affected by COVID-19 travel restrictions will now be able to apply for and be granted a Temporary Graduate visa outside Australia. The 485 visa maybe granted but the visa holders won't be able to travel back to Australia until the travel ban is lifted or unless they fall into an exemption category. ... Graduates must submit the 485 visa application within the immediate 12 months following the student visa expiry.

04.01.2022 Dear Students and partners The Australian government has announced major visa changes to support international students affected by the current pandemic. These five visa changes, mentioned in the below Official press release will ensure international students are not worse off due to COVID-19. The Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said the changes provide assurance to international students already in Austral...ia and those who haven’t been able to travel due to COVID-19 border closures. The Minister for Education Dan Tehan also noted that the changes would give international students confidence in their visa arrangements so they can make plans to study in Australia when it is safe to do so.
