04.01.2022 Say no to kidnapping! It’s breeding season again, and that means there’s lots of new feather babies learning to fly...and some of them struggling a bit. If you ...see a baby bird who appears not to be injured on the ground, don’t take it away to the vet or a wildlife carer. Survival rates in care are very low! Instead, pop it up in the tree as high as you can. You can use a colander, an ice cream tub or takeaway container with some holes in the bottom, and pop some leaf litter, grass or straw in there. The parents will continue to feed the little one until they are ready to fly or will even coax them higher into the tree. This little baby noisy miner was spotted on the ground by Katrina on her morning walk. By the time she came back the parents had already coaxed the little one back into the tree off the floor. On the other hand, if you can see injuries then absolutely get any wildlife checked out by a vet. We see wildlife for free.
