24.01.2022 I regret to inform you all that the entire run of my show Breathe? Easy. at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2020 has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (which is to say NOT because of a virus). All tickets will be refunded in the next day or so. If science with comedy is your thing, there are some other lovely science comedy shows on this year and I would urge you to go and see and support them! Cancellation is disappointing and I am disappointed, b...ut fear not: Dr. David Farmer will return. Many thanks. Humbly yours, Dr. David Farmer

22.01.2022 I am very sad that the Melbourne Comedy Festival has now been completely cancelled. I will just have to console myself with the thought I cancelled MY SHOW back when it was STILL COOL and would thank you all to remember that. #hipstercancellation

19.01.2022 More of this silliness-tinged seriousness for The Conversations Curious Kids. What causes brain freeze? I am both not terribly sure AND not terribly convinced that anyone else is either. #brainfreeze #headache #curiouskids #icecream #neuroscience

17.01.2022 If anyone was thinking of coming to The Exchange Hotel for Pint of Science 2019: Melbourne, there is now a Facebook event. I suppose it must really be happening! 13.01.2022 This morning I was woken up by a truck that said Turd Burglar on the side. Apparently, turd burglary requires the making of huge amounts of noise outside my apartment at 5am. In future, turd burglars, just pay for turds like the rest of us.... AND PLEASE TO DO IT QUIETLY.

11.01.2022 Radio is limited to audio, so heres a picture of my face to gaze at while I chat to David Astle (@dontattempt) about the importance of #curiosity in #science on @abcmelbourne 774. Im sorry about the quality of the photo, and sorrier about the quality of the FACE

10.01.2022 What a fall from grace. After failing to kill John Connor in 1992, the T-1000 has (a) been forced to take a clothes manequin gig just to make end meet, and (b) gone inexplicably bling. I walked in there and was all like "I need your clothes, your boots, and your massive dollar sign medallion."... #terminator #sydneyroad #brunswick #bling

10.01.2022 I wrote an article about the brain. You know, for kids! The Conversation Please to tell us in article form how much the human brain weighs? Me: HAHA, excellent, Also: #PANCAKES. https://theconversation.com/curious-kids-how-much-does-a-br

09.01.2022 Recent correspondence. The Conversation: Please to write an article about sighing Me: I WILL MAKE IT HILARIOUS AND SLIGHTLY RUDE! *Types furiously* ... The Conversation: ...its for a 4 year old. Me: *Backspaces furiously* I WILL MAKE IT ACCURATE AND NICE. https://theconversation.com/curious-kids-why-do-we-sigh-116 You must remember this: a kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a neurobiological reflex that prevents alveolar collapse.

06.01.2022 I had a lovely time answering questions about the #brain posed by the grade 4, 5 and 6 kids at Baden Powell College yesterday. Actually answering is GENEROUS: it turns OUT that kids ask HARD QUESTIONS. One girl (aged ~10) used the words Theta Waves. SRSLY

Easy. was co-written with the lovely Jackson Voorhaar and stars little old Dr. David Farmer... **Early bird tickets** (30% off) are available until the full comedy festival programme launch on the 11th of Feb. 01.01.2022 I KNOW that this is just one shop above another but, deep down, what I WANT to believe that this is actually the headquarters for The Jiu Jitsu Salvation Army: an organisation that aims to help people by satisfying their physical, spiritual, grappling and especially ground fighting needs. #jiujitsu #salvos #sydneyroad #brunswick

01.01.2022 This is just not right... shoe. At least, not in the context of the left. Thatll teach me to rehearse science comedy while getting ready to leave the house. #GROWNUP... #postdoclife #sciencecommunication #scicomm See more
