23.01.2022 Lets talk feet! When you consider that they help us to run around after kids, walk down the aisle, kick goals and hold us up when everything else seems low, its pretty shocking that new research released last month showed 78 per cent of Australians dont prioritise their foot health. The 2018 Foot Health Consumer Survey by the Australian Podiatry Association and Scholl Australia also showed that two in five Australians are suffering from foot pain some time in their liv...es, and one-third dont look after their feet. However, its not that hard to keep your lowest limb top of mind. Take a read of these simple tips for healthy feet. #acepodiatry #foothealth #tips #feet

23.01.2022 Jennys Jamu! A traditional Indonesian tonic that can be consumed on a daily basis to help with both disease prevention and treatment. It contains fresh certified organic turmeric and ginger, as well as tamarind, lemon, black pepper and raw honey. As many would know the main active ingredient of turmeric is curcumin. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and is a very strong antioxidant. But unfortunately it is very difficult to gain the real benefit from turmeric from just usi...ng the spice in your foods. Curcumin is also poorly absorbed into the bloodstream so many tablets and powders arent always effective. It helps to consume curcumin with black pepper to aid in absorption. Studies have shown that black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin by a huge 2000%. Curcumin is also fat soluble so absorption is also increased if coconut oil is taken with it. This is why Jennys Jamu is so fabulous because it not only contains beautiful organic turmeric but also black pepper. Then add a little coconut oil to your drink and have it twice daily to ensure your body is absorbing the curcumin and getting all the amazing benefits of this wonder spice. As we are so passionate about this "liquid gold" weve decided to help supply it to Perth and will stock it at Ace podiatry for $20 a bottle (750mls). Dosage - 50mls twice daily. Stock should arrive next week. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. See more

18.01.2022 Many of you are well aware that in the middle of this year one of our Podiatrists, Brooke Stevens, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. She had to undergo urgent brain surgery with Dr Teo in Sydney and has since spent many months in rehabilitation to regain her mobility. A big thanks to all our patients for their love, support and well wishes during this difficult time. Brooke has been overwhelmed by it all and is extremely grateful for all the cards and gifts.Thank you also to Hooi Fang for covering all Brookes shifts on such short notice. We have had some wonderful, positive feedback from the patients that have seen Hooi Fang which has been great.

18.01.2022 Onychomycosis is the most common toenail disease but treatment remains difficult due to the potential side effects associated with oral antifungal medication, and the high cost and lower efficacy of newer topical antifungal agents. It is for this reason that many patients are seeking alternative modalities for the treatment of onychomycosis. Tea tree oil and Oregano oil have been shown to offer a cost-effective alternative to commonly used topical antifungal drugs. Essential ...oils were often in use prior to the development of antimicrobial agents and many studies have proven that tea tree oil and Oregano oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Below is an interesting read of a case study with a patient who tried all forms of treatment for her fungal toenail. She eventually succeeded with the use of two powerful essential oils #teatreeoil #oreganooil #onychomycosis #toenailfungus #naturaltreatment #toxicfree #acepodiatry

13.01.2022 A common problem we see at this time of the year is plantar fasciitis/heel spur syndrome. Its common in summer months due to the use of unsupportive shoes/or even no shoes in the hot weather. Also caused by overuse, which can arise during pre season training for certain sports. If you or your children are suffering from this sort of pain then you need to address the inflammation, do some stretches, correct the biomechanics and have a footwear assessment. Call and make an appointment with one of our lovely Podiatrists.

02.01.2022 DIABETES AND YOUR FEET Have you wondered about the connection between diabetes and your feet? Here is what you need to know about your feet and diabetes and why it is so important to look after your health. Having diabetes may increase your risk of developing diabetes related-complications that include nerve damage called peripheral neuropathy or poor circulation in your feet called peripheral vascular disease.... Nerve damage may affect how you feel pressure or pain and may lead to numbness in your toes or feet. Changes to your circulation may delay your ability to heal any cuts or sores. This may also increase your risk of developing ulcers that may even lead to amputations. Feet are often the first place to show such diabetic-related symptoms. This is why it is so important to pay attention to any such changes in your feet if you have diabetes. Symptoms could include cold feet, numbness, a sharp pain in your leg after walking, pins and needles, or any changes in foot colour, such as redder skin? Also look for any nail changes, corns, calluses, cracked or dry skin. Seek urgent care if you have any signs of an infection, or your skin starts to breakdown such as via an ulcer or a crack in your heels or if you have a new pain, swelling or redness in this area. This is even more important if you have already been diagnosed with nerve damage. So what can you do if you have been diagnosed with diabetes? Make sure your feet are clean and dry, including drying between your toes. Moisturise your feet every day. Check your feet every day for changes. Keep your toenails trimmed. See your podiatrist regularly and if you notice any changes to your feet, it is strongly recommended that you seek professional advice from a podiatrist. #acepodiatry #diabetes #foothealth #podiatry
